About our Mexican catering in Hazel Street

With mobile Mexican catering, we bring the kitchen with us: our truck or trailer parks at your venue and we serve hot food straight from the hatch. No kitchen is needed on site. It suits office lunches and team days and big birthday celebrations, serving burritos, burrito bowls and loaded nachos.

In a small place like Hazel Street, events are typically in a garden, a field or a nearby hall. Tell us about narrow lanes, gates and long drives and we will plan for them, and soft ground after rain is worth mentioning. We’ll check the space, access and power with you before the day, so there are no surprises on arrival.

Our caterer checklist

Organising for someone else?

If you’re organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we’re happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Events in public spaces, like parks, normally need permission. We can send what the landowner or council needs from us.

Comparing your options

For food that feels relaxed but generous, a taco bar or a menu of tacos, burritos and nachos is hard to beat for your event in Hazel Street. What’s on the menu makes a difference to the total, so tell us what you have in mind. We will suggest options to suit your budget.

Why book with us

  • Allergen information for every dish
  • Food and drinks from one caterer, if you want both

Burritos and burrito bowls

Planning the serving area

  • Space for guests to queue
  • Power and water arrangements, confirmed with each booking
  • A route in that’s wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before booking.

Questions from Hazel Street

Do you come to events in the High Weald National Landscape?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

Which station should guests use for Hazel Street?

Guests can use Paddock Wood station, about 3.9 miles north of Hazel Street.

Do you provide drinks?

Yes, we run a Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and soft drinks. Your venue or event may need the right licence for alcohol, so we’ll talk licensing through with you.

Can we have a build-your-own taco bar?

Yes, a taco bar is one of the ways we serve. Let us know your numbers and space and we’ll recommend how to serve.

How far ahead should we book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Ask about your date even if it’s soon.

Can you cater in a back garden?

That depends on access. If the truck or trailer cannot reach the garden, a drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission. Send us a picture and we’ll talk it through.

What if the weather’s bad?

We can serve from the hatch in the rain. It is worth planning a covered area for guests, and let us know if the ground gets soft after heavy rain.

Can you plan for allergies?

Yes. Tell us about allergies when you book. Under UK rules, caterers must give information on 14 allergens, and we do that for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). Anyone with a severe allergy should speak to us before the event.

Planning for every diet

Nearly every event has some special diets. To plan for them:

  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Add a dietary question to your RSVP
  • Tell us about coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Let us know about any other food at the event

Guests order at the hatch and we serve them there and then, so everything goes out hot.

Extra salsas and toppings can widen the choice.

The process

We need a level, firm spot we can drive the truck or trailer onto, with power and water arrangements agreed beforehand. Send us a photo of the space if you are unsure. Winter evenings in Hazel Street close in by about 3:55pm, so choose a spot where guests can see what they’re ordering. At midsummer, the light holds until around 9:15pm.

  1. First, send us your date, venue, numbers and any diets we should know about.
  2. We put together a menu around your guests and quote for it.
  3. Before the day, we agree access, the serving spot, power and water.
  4. On the day, we set up and serve from the truck or trailer, or from a taco-bar station.
  5. After service, we clear away and leave the spot tidy.

Preparing for the day

  • Arrange somewhere covered for guests to eat
  • Ask the venue about power and water
  • Let us know the timings for the day

Should I do it myself?

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, with allergen information for every dish.
