DIY taco night versus a caterer

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone has to serve all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party serving. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.

Mexican catering in Higher Denham, from our food truck or trailer

Keep it simple or go further: tacos on their own, or tacos with burritos, nachos and quesadillas. Margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas can come from our drinks bar. For birthday parties and company summer parties, we can serve burritos, quesadillas and fresh salsas and guacamole.

In a hamlet or village like Higher Denham, your own garden or a neighbour’s field can make a good venue. Gates, verges and soft ground are worth mentioning when you enquire. We plan the timings around your day, whether that is speeches, a lunch break or a festival schedule.

Common questions in Higher Denham

Do you cater in villages like Higher Denham?

Yes, we cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking for the truck or trailer.

We are having a ceremony at St Mark's Hall: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a garden, field or venue nearby where the truck or trailer can park. We’d serve at the reception venue rather than at the church itself. Tell us where the reception will be.

Can we have a build-your-own taco bar?

Yes, a taco bar is one of the ways we serve. Let us know your numbers and space and we will recommend how to serve.

Can we add a bar?

You can add our drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and soft drinks. We will check the licensing with you before the day.

What do you need at the venue?

The main things are access and a level spot: a level spot to park, space for guests to queue and a little room for a serving table. Send us a picture and tell us about gates, slopes and soft ground.

Do you have dairy-free options?

Yes, we can. Tell us how many guests need dairy-free food, and we will include them in the plan.

What food do you serve?

We agree the menu with each client, with fillings such as carnitas, chicken tinga, beef birria or spiced mushrooms. Take a look at the sample menu.

Can you cater for special diets?

We plan carefully for diets and keep options separate, though we can’t guarantee a kitchen with no trace of any allergen. Guests with severe allergies should talk to us before the event.

Is Mexican catering right for your event?

Compared with a hog roast or barbecue, Mexican street food is easier for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests, thanks to separate fillings and toppings. Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you can choose what you need.

The process

When we arrive, we position the truck or trailer and get the serving area ready. We’re ready to serve at the agreed time, planned around your event. Daylight in Higher Denham runs to about 8:55pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September. Let us know if service will run after dark, and we’ll talk about lighting.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and venue.
  2. We plan a menu that covers every diet.
  3. We check the route in and where the truck or trailer will stand.
  4. Guests order at the hatch or build their own at the taco bar.
  5. After the last serving, we clear our area.

What’s on the menu

Loaded nachos

Nachos are easy sharing food, whether as a starter or a late bite. We can plan a dairy-free version.

Tacos

Soft tortillas, warmed and filled, topped with salsa and fresh toppings. Fillings such as carnitas, chicken tinga or spiced mushrooms are agreed with you.

Diets, allergies and planning

Nearly every event has some special diets. To plan for them:

  • Ensure the menu has a vegan option
  • Ask the venue whether food trucks are allowed
  • Collect dietary needs when guests reply
  • Give us separate numbers for children

If you’ve chosen a taco bar, the fillings, salsas and toppings go out on a serving table, and guests help themselves while we keep it topped up.

A tray of loaded nachos works well to start.

For planners, venues and organisers

For big numbers, we plan service to keep queues short, so guests are looked after quickly. Tell us how long you have for food and drinks.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: vehicle access, arrival times and documents. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

Higher Denham: venues, access and local tips

Higher Denham is about 4 miles north-west of Hillingdon, in Buckinghamshire. Whether your event is in the middle of Higher Denham or on the outskirts, Mexican catering works the same way: fresh service from our food truck or trailer, every diet planned for and a clear quote. We cover all 263 towns and villages in Buckinghamshire, wherever the truck or trailer can get in. You can also see our page for London, about 19 miles away.

Guests leaving a church like St Mark's Hall after a christening could walk over to a nearby garden where the tacos are ready. If you are organising a summer fair for a school like Denham Green E-Act Primary Academy, a taco truck can be a crowd-pleaser.

We serve at events all over UB9. That could mean an event at a home with a drive on Upper Road, Lower Road and Slade Oak Lane or the roads around them. Close by, we cover events in Baker's Wood (1 mile south), Tatling End (1 mile south-west), Rush Green (1 mile south), Gerrards Cross (2 miles west) and Fulmer (2 miles south-west). What affects the price in Higher Denham

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:

  • Staff for serving and the bar
  • Parking and the route in
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • The menu you choose

There is no one-size-fits-all price for Mexican catering. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Your quote sets it all out.

What to tell us

You don’t need everything decided to ask for a quote, but these help:

  • A photo of the space, if it’s a garden or field
  • The address or venue name
  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground
  • Any dietary needs and allergies

Most quotes start with a few simple details: date, location, guest numbers and diets. To send them, fill in our quote form.

Planning the serving area

Everything is served from our food truck or trailer, so where we park matters. These are the things we check:

  • A spot for a taco-bar serving table
  • Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer
  • A sensible distance from buildings and neighbours

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.
