How our Mexican catering works in Lower Common

Mexican street food makes mixed diets simple. There are vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free options, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests, and we give allergen information for every dish. It works well for anniversaries and engagements and leaving dos and retirement parties, serving a build-your-own taco bar, quesadillas and fresh salsas and guacamole.

In a small place like Lower Common, events are normally in a garden, a field or a nearby hall. Tell us about narrow lanes, gates and long drives and we will plan for them, and soft ground after rain is worth mentioning. We plan the timings around your day, so service starts when you want it.

Prices and what affects them

Each event is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Distance and access to the venue
  • How long we are needed on site
  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food

If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we will suggest a menu to match. A simple menu can still feel generous.

Details that help

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what’s useful:

  • What power and water the site has
  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground
  • Expected numbers
  • Where the event is

Not sure what you need yet? No problem: tell us about the occasion and the guests, and we will suggest a menu. To start, drop us a line using the enquiry form.

Perfect for your event in Lower Common

Food is cooked to order and served hot, rather than sitting out on a buffet table.

If you are planning any of these, we can help:

  • Garden parties
  • Engagement celebrations
  • Family celebrations
  • Weddings and evening receptions

Guests arriving by train will find that Crowthorne station is about 3.5 miles away.

What to look for in a quote

  • When final numbers are due
  • Whether travel is included
  • What the caterer needs from your venue
  • The wet-weather plan

Questions to ask before you book

Why book with us

  • Allergen information for everything we serve
  • A quote that sets out what’s included
  • Events in Lower Common and across Hampshire
  • Set-up planned with you and your venue

FAQs for Lower Common

How far is Lower Common from London?

It is about 36 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

Can you bring your truck or trailer to Shepperlands Farm Nature Reserve?

Only if the landowner, often the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we will help with the information they need from us.

What can we choose from?

Tacos, build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, loaded nachos and quesadillas, with salsas, guacamole and toppings. See our sample menu.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We pack down and tidy our own area after service. For anything beyond that, such as guests’ tables, ask us.

What’s on the menu?

Every menu is agreed with you. Fillings could include slow-cooked pork carnitas, chicken tinga, beef birria and vegan options such as spiced mushrooms or black beans. See our menu for ideas.

What areas do you cover?

London and the South East: Greater London, Kent and Medway, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

Do you come to Lower Common?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, and Lower Common is within our area. To check your date, use our quote form.

What access do you need?

The main things are access and a level spot: a level spot to park, space for guests to queue and a little room for a serving table. Send us a photo and tell us about gates, slopes and soft ground.

For planners, venues and organisers

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: where vehicles can park, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we will keep you updated on timings and set-up.

Dietary needs and planning tips

We take diets and allergies seriously. Here’s how you can help:

  • Ask guests about diets and allergies with your invitations
  • Guests with serious allergies should speak to us in advance
  • Think about cover for guests in wet weather
  • Include at least one vegan filling

We work around your timings, and adapt if they move.

Burrito bowls are a good choice for anyone avoiding tortillas, and they’re easy to adapt for different diets.

How it works

Service is quick and friendly: guests are served at the hatch or a serving station, so a crowd is looked after quickly. Afterwards we clear our area. From late May to late September, sunset in Lower Common moves from about 8:55pm to 7:05pm. If your event carries on later, tell us what lighting the venue has.

  1. First, send us a few details about your event.
  2. We suggest fillings and extras and send a quote.
  3. We agree access, the serving spot, power and water.
  4. On the day we park up, set up and serve hot food to order.
  5. Once service ends, we clear away.

Preparing for the day

  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
  • Let us know the timings for the day
  • Get the venue’s permission for us to park and serve

How to get a price

Getting a quote is simple: tell us the date, place, numbers and any dietary needs. We’ll send you a clear quote and a suggested menu.

Can I do a taco night myself?

Some hosts like to do it themselves. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Read our guide to taco bars.
