Mexican catering in Mile Oak

Diets, allergies and planning

Nearly every event has some special diets. To cater well for them:

  • Add a dietary question to your RSVP
  • Confirm allergies by email before the event
  • Mention any other caterers or courses
  • Plan somewhere covered for guests to eat if it rains

We have allergen information for every dish at the hatch, and guests are welcome to ask before ordering.

Burrito bowls suit guests who’d rather skip the tortilla.

About our Mexican catering in Mile Oak

Truck and trailer service generally suits around 50 to 400 guests. Larger festivals and smaller parties are looked at case by case, so let us know how many you expect. For engagement and anniversary parties and big birthday celebrations, we will put together a menu of burrito bowls, tacos and burritos and more.

In a small place like Mile Oak, events are usually in a garden, a field or a nearby hall. Country lanes, long drives and gates are fine if we know about them, and soft ground after rain is worth mentioning. We prepare everything fresh for your event and serve it straight from our food truck or trailer.

The process

We need a level, firm spot we can drive the truck or trailer onto, with power and water arrangements agreed beforehand. A photo of the space helps. Winter evenings in Mile Oak close in by about 3:55pm, so a well-lit spot for the queue makes a big difference. In late June, by contrast, daylight lasts until about 9:15pm.

  1. First, send us your date, venue, numbers and any diets we should know about.
  2. We suggest a sample menu and send a quote for your event.
  3. Together we confirm where the truck or trailer will park, plus power and water.
  4. On the day, we set up and serve from the truck or trailer, or from a taco-bar station.
  5. When service ends, we pack down and clear our area.

Mile Oak questions

Can you cater a reception after a service at St Andrew's Church?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. We’d serve at the reception venue rather than at the church itself. Tell us where the reception will be.

Can you bring a truck or trailer to venues in the High Weald National Landscape?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

How does mobile Mexican catering work?

We park our truck or trailer at your venue and serve hot Mexican street food from it. You can also have a build-your-own taco bar.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Even if it’s short notice, it’s worth asking.

Do you do a taco bar?

We can. We can set up a build-your-own taco bar, served from the truck or a serving table, with fillings, salsas and toppings to choose from. Read our taco bar guide.

What’s on the menu?

Tacos, build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, loaded nachos and quesadillas, with salsas, guacamole and toppings. See our sample menu.

Do you provide plates and napkins?

Ask us when you enquire. Let us know what you already have, and we’ll set out plates, napkins and cutlery in your quote.

Do you cover Mile Oak?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, and Mile Oak is within our area. For a quote, use our quote form.

Build-your-own taco bar

A taco bar is relaxed and sociable, and guests with different diets can choose what suits them.

Tacos

Tacos are the classic street food of Mexico. They come with fresh salsas and toppings, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests.

For planners, venues and organisers

Comparing your options

Compared with a hog roast or barbecue, Mexican street food is easier for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests, because fillings and toppings are kept separate. If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we’ll suggest a menu that fits. Even a simple menu can feel generous.

Should I do it myself?

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone has to serve all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party serving. With a caterer, you get the food and drinks without the work.

Prices and what affects them

We quote for your event, which reflects:

  • Whether you need disposables
  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food
  • What’s on the menu
  • Travel, parking and access

A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, because it needs no venue kitchen. Contact us for a quote to compare.

What we need to know

When you get in touch, it helps to tell us:

  • What power and water the site has
  • The venue or postcode
  • Whether you’d like food, drinks or both
  • The date and time of the event

Most quotes start with a few simple details: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. Contact us for a quote: just send a quick message through our quote form.
