Mexican catering for Old Basing events

How our Mexican catering works in Old Basing

Keep it simple or go further: a taco menu, or tacos plus loaded nachos, quesadillas and burrito bowls. Our Mexican drinks bar can be added too, with licensing checked with you. It works well for garden get-togethers and family gatherings and christenings, with fresh salsas and guacamole, quesadillas and a build-your-own taco bar.

There may be a hall or club near Old Basing if your garden is small; any can work, given permission and level ground to park on. Your quote sets out what’s included: the menu, the service time and any extras you choose.

What affects the price in Old Basing

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • Travel, parking and access
  • How long we’re needed on site
  • Serving staff
  • Whether you need disposables

Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you can choose what you need.

  • Your date and when you want service to start
  • The venue or postcode
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • A picture of where we’d park

A detailed enquiry gets a more accurate quote: venue, timings, menu ideas and access. To send your details, tell us about it on our contact page.

Old Basing is about 3 miles east of Basingstoke, in Hampshire. We bring Mexican catering to gardens, halls and venues around Old Basing and the surrounding area. We serve in 683 places across Hampshire, from the larger towns to small villages, wherever the truck or trailer can get in. Thinking of an event in Eastrop Park? Public parks typically need the landowner’s permission for a food truck, so check first. For a christening or wedding at a church such as Church of St Mary, a food truck at a garden or venue nearby is an easy way to feed everyone.

We cater events across the RG24 postcode area and the streets around it. From The Street, London Road and Paulet Place or a nearby road, we can bring Mexican catering there, given access. If your venue is just outside Old Basing, we also cover Lychpit (1 mile west), Mapledurwell (1 mile east), Andwell (1 mile east), Water End (2 miles east) and Chineham (2 miles north). Further out, we also cater in Basingstoke (3 miles west), Farnborough (12 miles east), Fleet (9 miles east), Aldershot (12 miles east), Alton (9 miles south) and Yateley (10 miles north-east).

A little further out are Festival Place (1.9 miles west) and Basing House (under half a mile west). Not far away are Farleigh Hill and The Mill Field.

Old Basing: your questions answered

Is it possible to have you in Eastrop Park?

Only if the landowner, often the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we’ll help with the information they need from us.

What’s the nearest station to Old Basing for guests?

The closest is Basingstoke station, roughly 2 miles away.

Is the food suitable for children?

Yes. We can keep dishes mild, and simple options such as quesadillas or nachos can be part of the menu. Tell us how many children are coming.

Can you cater for guests who avoid dairy?

Yes. We offer dairy-free options, and we’ll tell you which dishes contain milk.

What can we choose from?

Tacos and taco bars, plus burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas. See our sample menu.

How much space do you need?

Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer, and a route in it can fit through, and the venue’s agreement. We confirm power and water with you for each booking.

Can you plan for allergies?

Yes. Tell us about allergies when you book. UK law requires caterers to provide information on 14 allergens, and we give it for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). For severe allergies, please talk to us first.

Can you set up at our venue?

We need level, firm ground or hardstanding, access wide and high enough to drive in, and the venue’s permission. Power and water are confirmed with each booking.

What we need at the venue

Access is the first thing to check for a truck or trailer. We need:

  • Power and water, which we confirm with you for each booking
  • Some distance from houses and neighbours
  • A spot for a taco-bar serving table

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

About the menu

Burritos and burrito bowls

A big flour tortilla wrapped round rice, beans, a filling and toppings, or the same served in a bowl.

Tacos

Warm tortillas with a choice of fillings, topped with salsa and fresh toppings. Fillings are agreed with you, such as carnitas, chicken tinga or spiced mushrooms.

The process

We get there well before you want to serve, set up the truck or trailer and get everything ready. When service opens, guests come up to the hatch or serving table. Around midsummer it stays light in Old Basing until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so summer evening events are generally served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 4:00pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

  1. Begin with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. Expect a suggested menu and a quote.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm timings and arrangements.
  4. At the agreed time, service starts from the truck or trailer.
  5. We pack away when service is over.

Before we arrive

  • Choose a level, firm spot for the truck or trailer
  • Have a marquee or gazebo ready in case of rain
  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time

For event organisers in Old Basing

If you’re booking for a business, tell us what your finance team needs, and we will talk you through the process. We are happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.

If you are planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Can I do a taco night myself?

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party serving. With a caterer, you get the food and drinks without the work.

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: see how many tacos per person. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

Catering for every guest

A Mexican menu is easy to plan for mixed diets, because options can be kept separate. A few tips:

  • Think about cover for guests in wet weather
  • Guests with serious allergies should speak to us in advance
  • Send allergy details to us in writing
  • Include at least one vegan filling

For a taco bar, we lay the fillings, salsas and toppings out on a table, and guests help themselves.

Tell us if you need plates, cutlery or serving staff and we’ll confirm what’s possible with your quote.

  • Served from our truck or trailer at your venue, garden or event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, with allergen information
  • Tacos and taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas
  • Mexican drinks bar: margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas
