Mexican catering near Oliver's Battery

About our Mexican catering in Oliver's Battery

Every menu is agreed with you, so fillings might include slow-cooked pork carnitas, chicken tinga or beef birria, alongside vegan choices such as black beans or spiced mushrooms. We serve quesadillas, tacos and loaded nachos, and it’s a good fit for fundraisers and school events and weddings, day or evening.

For a rural spot like Oliver's Battery, fields and drives need a little planning: the gate, the ground and the route from the lane. We confirm power and water arrangements with you before the day. Guests are served from our food truck or trailer, or from a serving table nearby, and we plan service so the queue keeps moving.

Should I do it myself?

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone has to serve all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party serving. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.

Planning a food truck in Oliver's Battery

Oliver's Battery is about 2 miles south-west of Winchester, in Hampshire. From the centre of Oliver's Battery to the outskirts, we offer the same service: a truck or trailer at your event, options for every diet and a clear price. Oliver's Battery is one of 683 places in Hampshire where we can bring Mexican catering. Our truck and trailer cover the area from Oliver's Battery to Southampton (9 miles away).

The A3090 run on or near Oliver's Battery, so the drive in with the truck or trailer is a simple one. A gathering in St. Cross Park would need the park owner’s say-so for any catering vehicle, and that is worth sorting out early.

Wherever your event is in SO22, we can bring the truck or trailer to your guests. Your event could be at a home on Momford Road, Austen Avenue and Sunnydown Road or the roads around them. With the A3090 close by, Oliver's Battery is easy for us to reach. If your venue is just outside Oliver's Battery, we also cover Badger Farm (1 mile east), Stanmore (1 mile north-east), St Cross (1 mile east), Compton (2 miles south) and Winchester (2 miles north-east). Further out, we also cater in Eastleigh (5 miles south), Fareham (15 miles south-east), Andover (13 miles north-west), Totton (11 miles south-west), Chandler's Ford (4 miles south) and Hedge End (9 miles south).

Nearby you’ll also find Winchester Castle (1.8 miles north-east) and Balfour Museum of Hampshire Red Cross History (0.9 miles north). The countryside around Oliver's Battery includes Hockley Meadows and Twyford Down.

  • Nearby schools include Kings' School (1 mile north)

Choosing a Mexican caterer

What we need at the venue

We will be honest if a space will not work. The main points are:

  • Room for a serving table for the taco bar
  • Clear vehicle access: gate widths, height limits and the ground checked before the day
  • Power and water, which we confirm with you for each booking

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before booking.

How it works

Once service is over, we pack up and leave our area tidy. We agree set-up and pack-down times with you and your venue. Around midsummer it stays light in Oliver's Battery until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it’s dark by about 4:00pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and venue.
  2. Together we plan a menu around your guests’ diets.
  3. We check the route in and where the truck or trailer will stand.
  4. Guests order at the hatch or build their own at the taco bar.
  5. After the last serving, we clear our area.

Getting ready for the day

  • Check the venue is happy to have a truck or trailer on site
  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely
  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough

We need only a few details to quote: date, location, guest numbers and diets. To send them, send us your details through our quote form.

Prices and what affects them

These are the factors that matter most:

  • What the venue already provides
  • Parking and the route in
  • The length of service
  • Food, drinks or both

Larger events can cost less per head, because the set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

What we need to know

You do not need everything decided to ask for a quote, but it helps to know:

  • Your menu ideas
  • The date and rough timings
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • The address or venue name

Still deciding on the menu? That’s fine: tell us about the occasion and the guests, and we will make suggestions. To start, fill in our quote form.

Mexican catering or something else?

A cold buffet is simple but tends to sit out for hours. Our food is served hot, one order at a time. Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the length of service, plus any add-ons and the location. We quote for each event individually.

Why us?

  • A clear quote
  • Food and drinks from one caterer, if you want both
  • Menus for vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free guests
  • We cover Oliver's Battery and the whole of Hampshire

Oliver's Battery questions

Can you bring your truck or trailer to St. Cross Park?

Only if the landowner, often the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we’ll help with the information they need from us.

How far is Oliver's Battery from London?

Roughly 63 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

Our truck and trailer service typically suits events of around 50 to 400 guests. Festivals can be bigger, and smaller parties are quoted case by case. Send us your numbers and we’ll advise.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes, and we plan them in from the start. Let us know how many vegetarian and vegan guests to expect, and we’ll keep their options separate.

How far ahead should we book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Ask about your date even if it is soon.

Where do you cater?

We cover London and the South East, Hampshire included. Find your area.

What if it rains?

We can still serve in the rain. Have somewhere covered ready for guests.

Can you do gluten-free food?

Yes, with corn tortillas. Corn tortillas are naturally gluten-free, but some fillings, sauces and toppings may not be, so we plan gluten-free dishes carefully and give allergen information.

Planners, venues and businesses

For larger events, we plan serving points around your timings, so everyone is served promptly. Let us know how long the break is.

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can check the date.
