Common questions in Petham
Do you come out to small places like Petham?
Yes, small places are no problem, given access. Tell us about lanes, gates, ground and parking.
We are having a ceremony at Church of All Saints: can you cater afterwards?
Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.
What areas do you cover?
London and the South East: Greater London, Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire.
How is the food prepared?
Fillings are slow-cooked in advance, then finished and kept hot on site. Tortillas are warmed on site, and salsas and guacamole are made fresh.
Do you provide allergen information for each dish?
Yes, and it helps to hear about allergies when you book. UK law requires caterers to provide information on 14 allergens, and we do that for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). For severe allergies, please talk to us first.
Do you clear up afterwards?
Our area is packed away and left tidy. Tell us the venue’s rules on waste and clearing up and we’ll talk it through.
Can you serve drinks as well?
Our drinks bar can be added to any booking, with margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and soft drinks. Alcohol needs the right licence, so we will check that with you.
Do you do parties at home?
Yes, as long as there’s access and a level, firm spot. Send us a picture of the access and the space.
Mexican catering in Petham, from our food truck or trailer
With mobile Mexican catering, we bring the kitchen with us: we park our food truck or trailer on site and serve hot food from it. You do not need a kitchen at the venue. It works well for engagement and anniversary parties and markets and community events, with quesadillas, loaded nachos and burritos.
Somewhere as small as Petham, a garden or field is often the venue. Country lanes, long drives and gates are fine if we know about them, and soft ground after rain is worth mentioning. Access, space and power are agreed with you beforehand, so set-up goes smoothly.
Diets, allergies and planning
Mixed diets are straightforward to plan for, because options can be kept separate. A few tips:
- Ask guests about diets and allergies with your invitations
- Let us know about any other food at the event
- Have a covered area ready in case of rain
- Tell us how many children are coming
We can still serve from the hatch if it rains, but guests will need somewhere covered to eat.
Burrito bowls are a good choice for anyone avoiding tortillas, and they’re easy to adapt for different diets.
How we price Mexican catering
These are the factors that matter most:
- Your choice of food and drinks
- Parking and the route in
- What the venue already provides
- Timings and hours
Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: serving hours, staff, disposables, travel and VAT. Our quote sets out what’s included.
Getting an accurate quote
When you contact us, it helps to tell us:
- Whether you’d like food, drinks or both
- The address or venue name
- Gate widths, slopes and the ground
- The date and rough timings
To get a price, just tell us about it on our contact page. Give us the details of your event, and we’ll suggest a menu to suit.
How it compares
Burgers and pizza are what guests often expect. Mexican street food stands out. The cost per head can fall as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.
What you get with us
- A quote that sets out what’s included
- Quick, friendly service from the hatch
- Access, space and power checked in advance
- Everything served fresh from the hatch

DIY taco night versus a caterer
You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Read our guide to taco bars.
Not sure whether to do it yourself or book a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Ask us for a quote and compare.

- The wet-weather plan
- How many staff are serving, and for how long
- The venue requirements
How the day works
Serving is quick: guests are served at the hatch or a serving station, so even a long queue moves. Afterwards we clear our area. Around midsummer it stays light in Petham until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening events are typically served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:50pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.
- Begin with the date, the place and the numbers.
- We come back with menu ideas and a quote.
- Closer to the day, we confirm timings and arrangements.
- At the agreed time, service starts from the truck or trailer.
- We pack away when service is over.
How to prepare
- Give us your final numbers and diets
- Get the venue’s permission for us to park and serve
- Tell us when you want service to start
Ask for a quote
Send us the date, your venue or CT4 postcode and guest numbers, plus any dietary needs, and we’ll reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. Just tell us about it on our contact page.

Hosting a party at home? Send a photo of the space and tell us about access, and we will let you know if it is a good fit.
Planning the serving area
Plenty of outdoor spaces and venues work for us, but there are a few things to check:
- The venue’s or landowner’s permission for a catering vehicle
- Room for a serving table for the taco bar
- Power and water, which we confirm with you for each booking
If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before you book.
