Mexican catering in Rake

Mexican catering in Rake, served fresh

Tacos are the heart of the menu: warmed tortillas, a choice of fillings, and salsas, guacamole and toppings to finish. Burritos, burrito bowls, loaded nachos and quesadillas can sit alongside them. Popular choices include a build-your-own taco bar, loaded nachos and fresh salsas and guacamole, and it’s a good fit for christenings and family parties and weddings, day or evening.

Somewhere as small as Rake, a garden or field is often the venue. Tell us about narrow lanes, gates and long drives and we’ll plan for them, and soft ground after rain is worth mentioning. Timings are planned around your event, whether that is speeches, a lunch break or a festival schedule.

Diets, allergies and planning

Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Here’s how:

  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Check that your venue allows outside caterers and vehicles
  • Guests with serious allergies should speak to us in advance
  • Confirm allergies by email before the event

On the day, we arrive in good time to park up and get ready. All we need is someone to show us the agreed spot.

Add our Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas, with licensing checked with you.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles allergen information for you.

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

Planning the serving area

Every venue is different, so we ask about the space when you get in touch. Generally, we look for:

  • Access wide and high enough to drive in, with gates and soft lawns checked first
  • Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer
  • Room for a serving table for the taco bar

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before booking.

The process

A typical event goes like this: we park up and get ready, service opens at the agreed time, and your guests are served fresh for the agreed time. In Rake, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening events are typically served in daylight. For winter events, when it’s dark by about 4:00pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

  1. It begins with the basics: your date, venue, guest numbers and dietary needs.
  2. You get a suggested menu, with fillings agreed with you, and a quote.
  3. Together we confirm where the truck or trailer will park, plus power and water.
  4. On the day we arrive, set up and serve hot food from our food truck or trailer.
  5. When service ends, we pack down and clear our area.

Preparing for the day

  • Give us a contact for the day
  • Have level hardstanding or firm ground ready
  • Arrange somewhere covered for guests to eat

How to compare caterers

The menu, item by item

Build-your-own taco bar

A serving table of fillings, salsas and toppings, with warm tortillas to fill. Each guest makes tacos their way.

Burritos and burrito bowls

A burrito is a meal in one. Bowls suit guests who want to skip the tortilla.

Comparing your options

A barbecue often means a host tied to the grill. Book us and the cooking happens in our food truck or trailer, so you can enjoy your event. When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: service time, staff, plates and napkins, travel and VAT. Contact us for a quote and we will set out what’s included.
