Mexican catering for Send events

Mexican catering in Send, from our truck or trailer

We plan each menu with the client, with fillings such as slow-cooked pork carnitas, chicken tinga or beef birria, alongside vegan choices such as black beans or spiced mushrooms. It suits fairs and festivals and anniversaries and engagements, with burritos, fresh salsas and guacamole and burrito bowls.

Around Send, events are often in gardens, fields, local halls or nearby venues. If access is tight or the ground is soft, we will plan around it. You can book food, drinks or both, so one caterer can cover more of the day.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

Weighing up a DIY taco night against a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Ask us for a quote and compare.

How we price Mexican catering

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • Whether you need disposables
  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food
  • Travel, parking and access
  • Your choice of food and drinks

Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you can choose what you need.

What to tell us

For a quote, it helps to have:

  • Gate widths, slopes and the ground
  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Expected numbers
  • A picture of where we’d park

We need only a few details to quote: date, location, guest numbers and diets. Contact us for a quote: just send us your details through our quote form.

Send questions

We’re having a ceremony at St William of York: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. We’d serve at the reception venue rather than at the church itself. Send us the reception address.

Is it possible to have you in White Rose Lane?

It depends on the park’s owner, who would need to agree to a catering vehicle on site. Ask them first; if they say yes, we will send what they need from us.

What do you need at the venue?

Tell us about the venue and the way in, and we’ll confirm what we need. Space for a queue and, if you choose one, a taco-bar table helps too.

Who clears up?

We pack down and tidy our own area after service. For anything beyond that, such as guests’ tables, ask us.

Do you provide allergen information for each dish?

We plan allergen-aware menus, including for nut allergies, with allergen information for every dish. We plan carefully and keep options separate, though we can’t promise a dish is allergen-free. If a guest has a severe allergy, please talk to us before the event.

Is the food made fresh?

Fillings are slow-cooked in advance, then finished and kept hot on site. The tortillas are warmed on site, and the salsas and guacamole are made fresh.

What happens if it rains?

We can keep serving from the truck or trailer in the rain, but your guests will want somewhere covered, like a marquee or gazebo.

Do you have gluten-free options?

Yes, we offer gluten-free options, using corn tortillas. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can explain how we prepare their food. See are corn tortillas gluten-free?

Planning a food truck in Send

Send is about 3 miles south-east of Woking, in Surrey. Whether your event is in the middle of Send or on the outskirts, we offer the same service: fresh service from our food truck or trailer, every diet planned for and a clear quote. Send is one of 395 towns and villages in Surrey we cover.

Around Send, historic houses include Clandon Park (2.9 miles south) and Hatchlands Park (3.4 miles south-east). Estates and historic houses tend to set their own rules for caterers, so find out what yours allows first. Parks such as White Rose Lane usually need the owner’s permission for vehicles and catering, so ask before you plan an event there. With the Surrey Hills National Landscape about 6 miles away at most, a rural setting is never far from Send. Country lanes there can be narrow and verges soft, so tell us about the route in.

For Mexican catering in GU23, we plan around your venue and the route in and timings. Streets in the area include Sandy Lane, Farm Lane and Sandfields, and an event on any of them can work if the truck or trailer can park nearby. For events just outside Send, we cover Send Marsh (1 mile east), Burntcommon (1 mile east), Sutton Green (1 mile south-west), Mayford (2 miles west) and Pyle Hill (2 miles west). Within a short drive, we also cover Guildford (3 miles south-west), Woking (3 miles north-west), Camberley (9 miles west), Epsom (12 miles east), Farnham (13 miles south-west) and Ewell (13 miles east).

Step by step

It is a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up our food truck or trailer, and serve without fuss. A December event in Send will be in the dark from about 3:55pm, so a well-lit spot for the queue makes a big difference. In late June, by contrast, daylight lasts until about 9:20pm.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and venue.
  2. Together we plan a menu around your guests’ diets.
  3. We confirm the way in and where we’ll park.
  4. Food is served from the hatch or a taco-bar table.
  5. After the last serving, we clear our area.

Preparing for the day

  • Let us know the timings for the day
  • Ask the venue about power and water

  • A flat, firm spot where the truck or trailer can stand

Tacos

Tacos are the classic street food of Mexico. They come with fresh salsas and toppings.

Is Mexican catering right for your event?

Compared with a hog roast or barbecue, tacos make vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests easier to cater for, thanks to separate fillings and toppings. Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so tell us what you have in mind. We’ll suggest options to suit your budget.
