How our Mexican catering works in Shottesbrooke

A build-your-own taco bar is one of the most sociable ways to feed a crowd. Everyone builds their own tacos from what’s laid out, so nobody ends up with something they do not want. We serve burritos, fresh salsas and guacamole and burrito bowls, and it is a good fit for christenings and family parties and summer garden parties.

Somewhere like Shottesbrooke, a field or garden is often the setting. Mention gates and soft ground when you contact us. Timings are planned around your event, whether that’s speeches, a lunch break or a festival schedule.

How we price Mexican catering

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • Serving staff
  • How many guests we’re serving
  • Travel, parking and access
  • What’s on the menu

There’s no one-size-fits-all price for Mexican catering. A simple party menu and a full wedding day are very different jobs. Your quote sets it all out.

What we need to know

The more we know about your event, the better we can plan. Please include:

  • What power and water the site has
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Whether you’d like food, drinks or both
  • Diets and allergies you know about

Send us the date, your venue or SL6 postcode and guest numbers, plus any dietary needs, and we’ll reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. To get started, send a quick message through our quote form.

How it compares

Next to a hog roast or a barbecue, Mexican street food is easier for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests, thanks to separate fillings and toppings. Larger events can cost less per head, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

Why book with us

  • Allergen information for every dish
  • Served fresh from our truck or trailer
  • A menu built around your guests
  • Access, space and power checked in advance

Step by step

A typical event goes like this: we park up and get ready, service opens at the agreed time, and your guests are served fresh until service ends. Around midsummer it stays light in Shottesbrooke until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting around the truck and the queue.

  1. It begins with the basics: your date, venue, guest numbers and dietary needs.
  2. We suggest a sample menu and send a quote for your event.
  3. Before the day, we agree access, the serving spot, power and water.
  4. On the day, we set up and serve from the truck or trailer, or from a taco-bar station.
  5. Once everyone has eaten, we tidy our serving area and head off.

Before you choose a spot

The route in matters as much as the spot itself. We need:

  • A flat, firm spot where the truck or trailer can stand
  • Space for guests to queue
  • A sensible distance from buildings and neighbours

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. Our advice:

  • Check that your venue allows outside caterers and vehicles
  • Put any allergies in writing for us
  • Include at least one vegan filling
  • Flag anyone with coeliac disease

If timings change on the day, tell us and we will adjust.

Quesadillas are a good choice for children and cautious eaters, because they’re simple.

The menu, item by item

Quesadillas

Tortillas filled with melted cheese and a filling, toasted until crisp.

Salsas and guacamole

Every taco needs salsa and guacamole, and guests add as much as they like.

Should I do it myself?

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Our taco bar guide explains how.

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: see how many tacos per person. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label anything containing allergens.
