Can I do a taco night myself?

Not sure whether to do it yourself or book a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Ask us for a quote and compare.

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: see how many tacos per person. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

What Mexican catering costs

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:

  • Your choice of food and drinks
  • What the venue already provides
  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food
  • How many staff you need

What’s on the menu makes a difference to the total, so tell us what you have in mind. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

Details that help

You don’t need everything decided to ask for a quote, but it helps to know:

  • The address or venue name
  • Gate widths, slopes and the ground
  • Your menu ideas
  • Roughly how many adults and children

Still deciding on the menu? No problem: tell us about the occasion and the guests, and we’ll suggest a menu. To start, use our quote form.

Occasions we cater for in Terrick

The food is bright and generous that suits a relaxed event.

A truck or trailer works for big and small events alike. Typical bookings include:

  • Christenings and family parties
  • Charity and school events
  • Birthday parties
  • Wedding breakfasts and evening food

When the service is at a church such as Church of St Peter and St Paul, the food normally happens elsewhere, at a field, hall or garden with room for the truck.

  • How each diet is kept separate

  • Space, access, power and water needs

How to compare caterers

How it works

Serving is quick: we serve from the hatch or a serving station, so a crowd is looked after quickly. When service ends, we pack down. In Terrick, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it’s dark by about 3:55pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

  1. Start by telling us about your event.
  2. You get a sample menu and a quote.
  3. We agree access, the serving spot, power and water.
  4. On the day we park up, set up and serve hot food to order.
  5. Once service ends, we clear away.

How to prepare

  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to park
  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely

Questions from Terrick

Which station is closest to Terrick?

Guests can use Little Kimble station, about 1.3 miles south-west of Terrick.

Could you serve our guests after a service at Church of St Peter and St Paul?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

Do you do parties at home?

Yes, as long as there is access and a level, firm spot. Tell us about the drive, gates and any slopes, and we will tell you honestly whether it works.

How spicy is the food?

The food can be kept mild, and hotter salsas go on the side for guests who like heat.

Do you serve in the rain?

Rain does not stop service from the hatch. Plan a marquee, gazebo or indoor space for guests to eat in.

Do you give allergen information?

Our menus are planned with allergies in mind, nut allergies included, and give allergen information for every dish. We plan carefully and keep options separate, though we can’t promise a dish is allergen-free. Guests with severe allergies should talk to us before the event.

Can we add a bar?

We can. The drinks bar offers margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and alcohol-free drinks. Licensing is checked with you first.

Is the food made fresh?

We slow-cook fillings ahead, then finish them and keep them hot at your event. The tortillas are warmed on site, and the salsas and guacamole are made fresh.

What we need at the venue

The route in matters as much as the spot itself. We need:

  • Some distance from houses and neighbours
  • Details of power and water on site, agreed when you book
  • Access wide and high enough to drive in, with gates and soft lawns checked first

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise before booking.

Planners, venues and businesses

Planning an event for a club, school or charity in Terrick? Service from a truck or trailer is quick, even for a crowd, and the menu can suit most diets. Give us the details and we will suggest a plan.

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We can send what the landowner or council needs from us.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Allergies and diets are taken seriously. Here’s how you can help:

  • Add a dietary question to your RSVP
  • Confirm the venue is happy to have a catering vehicle
  • Plan somewhere covered for guests to eat if it rains
  • Tell us how many children are coming

For a taco bar, we lay the fillings, salsas and toppings out on a table, and guests help themselves while we keep it topped up.

Ask about extra salsas and toppings for a bigger spread.
