Can I do a taco night myself?

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: see how many tacos per person. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label anything containing allergens.

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, with allergen information for every dish.

What affects the price in Breach

Each event is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food
  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • How many staff you need
  • Guest numbers

Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed in your quote.

Details that help

When you get in touch, it helps to tell us:

  • The address or venue name
  • A picture of the space, if it is a garden or field
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • Roughly how many adults and children

The quickest way to a quote is to fill in our quote form. Tell us about your event in Breach, and we’ll suggest a menu to suit.

Breach: your questions answered

Do you come to events in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

Do you cater in villages like Breach?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

Can you cater for children?

Yes. Mild dishes, quesadillas and nachos can be part of the menu. Include children in your numbers.

Do you have vegan options?

Yes. Vegetarian and vegan fillings, such as spiced mushrooms or black beans, can be part of the menu.

What happens if it rains?

Rain doesn’t normally stop service from the truck or trailer. It’s worth planning a covered area for guests, and let us know if the ground gets soft after heavy rain.

How far ahead should we book?

As soon as you have a date. Popular dates go first, so contact us early.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

Truck and trailer service generally suits around 50 to 400 guests. Festivals can be bigger, and smaller parties are quoted case by case. Send us your numbers and we’ll advise.

Do you have a licence to sell alcohol?

That depends on your venue. Some venues have a premises licence; others need a Temporary Event Notice. We will talk licensing through with you.

How it compares

Running your own bar means checking licensing, stock and staff yourself. We will talk licensing through with you and bring bar staff. Pricing depends on the event. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Your quote sets it all out.

Drinks planning tips

A few tips to help the bar run smoothly:

  • Plan water alongside the bar
  • Plan alcohol-free drinks for drivers
  • Pair the bar with hot food
  • Check allergies with guests, including for drinks

We serve responsibly: under-18s aren’t served alcohol, and nor is anyone who has had too much.

Add our Mexican catering for tacos, burritos and nachos.

Space, access and the venue

Plenty of outdoor spaces and venues work for us, but there are a few things to check:

  • Agreement from the venue for our bar
  • Level, firm ground for the bar set-up
  • Power and water arrangements, confirmed with each booking

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What we offer

  • Agua de jamaica (hibiscus)
  • Horchata
  • Margaritas
  • Mexican beer
  • Soft drinks
  • Fruit aguas frescas

The process

Serving is quick: guests are served at the hatch or a serving station, so a crowd is looked after quickly. Afterwards we clear our area. Winter receptions in Breach are dark by about 3:50pm in December, so an outdoor bar needs lighting from the start. At midsummer, by contrast, sunset is around 9:15pm.

  1. First, we check your date.
  2. We suggest margaritas, beer, aguas frescas and alcohol-free choices.
  3. We agree where the bar goes.
  4. We set up and serve on cue.
  5. When the bar shuts, we clear away.

Preparing for the day

  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
  • Have a marquee or gazebo ready in case of rain
  • Name one person we can ask on the day
