For planners, venues and organisers

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We can send what the landowner or council needs from us.

For big numbers, we plan service to keep queues short, so everyone is served promptly. Let us know how long the break is.

FAQs for East Preston

Can you bring a truck or trailer to venues in the South Downs National Park?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and catering, so check with yours. We will follow the site rules.

Do you cater at coastal events near East Preston?

We can, given firm ground and the landowner’s permission. Beaches and promenades normally need the council’s agreement, so check that first.

What access do you need?

Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer, and a route in it can fit through, and the venue’s agreement. Power and water arrangements are confirmed with each booking.

Can you do gluten-free food?

Yes, with corn tortillas. Corn is naturally gluten-free, though some sauces and toppings can contain gluten, so we check every dish and give allergen information.

What do you serve?

Mexican street food and drinks: tacos and build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas, with salsas, guacamole and toppings. We also run a Mexican drinks bar.

What’s on the drinks menu?

Margaritas and Mexican beer, with aguas frescas like horchata and agua de jamaica, plus alcohol-free choices.

Do you do drinks only?

You can. The bar can be booked on its own.

How big an event can you cater?

It depends on the menu and how long service runs, but our truck and trailer service generally suits around 50 to 400 guests. For anything outside that, ask us.

The process

A typical event goes like this: we park up and get ready, service opens at the agreed time, and your guests are served fresh until service ends. At midsummer, it’s light in East Preston until about 9:20pm, so evening drinks can be served in daylight. By late September, sunset is about 7:05pm, and in December it is dark by about 4:00pm, so plan lighting around the bar.

  1. You tell us the date, venue, guest numbers and the drinks you have in mind.
  2. We talk through licensing with you, whether that is the venue’s licence or a Temporary Event Notice.
  3. You get a suggested drinks menu and a quote.
  4. On the day, our bar staff serve drinks responsibly at the agreed times.
  5. When the bar closes, we pack down and clear our area.

Before we arrive

DIY taco night versus a caterer

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles allergen information for you.

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

Is Mexican bar hire right for your event?

Bring-your-own is simple but uneven. A bar gives every guest a drink in hand, including non-drinkers. Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so tell us what you have in mind. We will suggest options to suit your budget.

What you get with us

Prices and what affects them

Each event is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Food, drinks or both
  • The length of service
  • How many guests we are serving
  • Parking and the route in
