Common questions in New Barn

Which station is closest to New Barn?

Guests can use Longfield station, about 1.2 miles west of New Barn.

Could you serve our guests after a service at Church of Saint Mary Magdalene?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

Do you provide plates and napkins?

That’s confirmed with each quote. Tell us whether your venue has crockery or you’d prefer disposables.

Do we need a licence for the bar?

Alcohol at an event needs the venue’s premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice. We will check the licensing with you. See GOV.UK for Temporary Event Notices.

How much space do you need?

A level, firm spot for the truck or trailer, with access wide and high enough to drive in, plus the venue’s permission. We confirm power and water with you for each booking.

What happens if it rains?

We can keep serving from the truck or trailer in the rain, but guests need somewhere covered to eat and drink, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

Do you follow the rules on serving alcohol?

Always. Under-18s are not served alcohol, and anyone who has had too much won’t be served more.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes, and we plan them in from the start. Let us know how many vegetarian and vegan guests to expect.

  • Agree bar timings in advance

Everything is served from our food truck or trailer, so where we park matters. Here’s what we look for:

  • A spot away from neighbours’ windows if the bar runs late
  • Room for a queue
  • Permission from the venue or landowner

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Questions to ask before booking

The process

We arrive in good time before service, set up the truck or trailer and get everything ready. When service opens, guests come up to the hatch or serving table. In December, the light goes in New Barn at about 3:50pm, so an outdoor bar needs lighting from the start. At midsummer, by contrast, sunset is around 9:20pm.

  1. First, we check your date.
  2. You get a suggested drinks list.
  3. We agree where the bar goes.
  4. The bar opens at the agreed time.
  5. We tidy up at the end.

Comparing your options

A standard bar is fine, but a Mexican bar with margaritas and aguas frescas feels like part of the theme. The cost per head can fall as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

Why book with us

  • Fast service, even with a queue
  • Tacos, burritos and a drinks bar
  • Menus chosen with you
  • Options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests

Read our prices page or our guide to catering costs.

What Mexican bar hire costs

The same guest numbers can mean different prices, depending on:

  • The menu you choose
  • Timings and hours
  • What the venue already provides
  • Parking and the route in

The price depends on guest numbers, the menu and how long you’d like us to serve, along with extras and where your event is. We quote for each event individually.

What we need to know

For a quote, it helps to have:

  • The address or venue name
  • Whether you’d like food, drinks or both
  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground
  • Diets and allergies you know about

Not sure what you need yet? That is fine: give us the basics about your event, and we will suggest a menu. To start, tell us about it on our contact page.
