Should I do it myself?

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Read our guide to taco bars.

Snowdown: venues, access and licensing

Snowdown is about 7 miles north-west of Dover, in Kent. Across the CT15 area, we can serve your guests, as long as there is access. We cover all 922 towns and villages across Kent, wherever the truck or trailer can get in. Our truck and trailer cover the area from Snowdown to Canterbury (7 miles away).

For guests coming by train, Snowdown station is in Snowdown itself. Nearby historic houses include Goodnestone Park (2 miles north). Many listed venues control who serves drinks on their premises, so ask yours what it allows. The Kent Downs National Landscape is within about 7 miles of Snowdown, a lovely setting for drinks outdoors. Ask your venue about vehicle access for the truck or trailer.

We cater events across CT15. Streets in the area include The Crescent, South Avenue and Weston Mews, and an event on any of them can work if the truck or trailer can park nearby. For events just outside Snowdown, we cover Nonington (1 mile north-east), Woolage Village (1 mile south-west), Frogham (1 mile south-east), Ratling (1 mile north) and Barfrestone (2 miles south-east). Larger places within reach include Canterbury (7 miles north-west), Margate (14 miles north-east), Dover (7 miles south-east), Folkestone (9 miles south), Ramsgate (12 miles north-east) and Broadstairs (14 miles north-east).

FAQs for Snowdown

Is Snowdown close to London?

It is about 60 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

Could you serve our guests after a service at St Peter?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

Can you come to a private house?

Yes, if the truck or trailer can get in and park on level, firm ground. Tell us about the drive, gates and any slopes, and we’ll tell you honestly whether it works.

How is the food prepared?

Food is cooked to order in our food truck or trailer, or served from a build-your-own taco bar. Fillings are slow-cooked beforehand and finished on site.

What if the weather’s bad?

Rain doesn’t generally stop service from the truck or trailer. It is worth planning a covered area for guests, and tell us if heavy rain could make the ground soft.

Are plates and napkins included?

That is confirmed with each quote. Let us know what the venue supplies and we will talk it through.

Do you have dairy-free options?

Yes, on request. Let us know your dairy-free numbers, and we will plan the menu around them.

Can children have drinks from the bar?

Every bar has alcohol-free choices, from aguas frescas to soft drinks.

What Mexican bar hire costs

The same guest numbers can mean different prices, because of:

  • How long we’re needed on site
  • Whether you need disposables
  • Travel, parking and access
  • Guest numbers

There’s no one-size-fits-all price for Mexican bar hire. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Your quote sets it all out.

Details that help

Good planning starts with a few facts. Try to include:

  • Whether you’d like food, drinks or both
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • A picture of where we’d park
  • The date and time of the event

Every event is quoted individually, so the price fits what you actually want. For a quote, use our quote form.

What happens on the day

On the day, we park the truck or trailer in the agreed spot and set up. We’re ready to serve at the agreed time, so everything runs to your schedule. Evening drinks in Snowdown stay light until about 8:45pm in late May and 9:15pm in late June, so a summer drinks bar can run into the evening in daylight. String lights or lanterns near the hatch make a later bar easier to find.

  1. Tell us your date, venue and numbers.
  2. We check the licensing with you.
  3. We agree a drinks menu.
  4. We serve drinks responsibly on the day.
  5. We clear the bar at the end.

How to prepare

  • Tell us when you want service to start
  • Tell us about narrow gates or low branches
  • Ask the venue about power and water

How to get a price

Each quote is tailored to your event. Give us your date and numbers, and we’ll confirm whether we are available that day.

  • Access to unload close to the bar spot

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.
