Questions from Sompting

We’re having a ceremony at St Peter the Apostle: can you cater afterwards?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

Can you serve near the sea around Sompting?

Yes, with permission for the spot and firm ground for the truck or trailer. Seafront and beach spots usually need permission, and wind is the main thing to plan for.

Do you have dairy-free options?

Yes. Dairy-free options are part of our menus, and we’ll tell you which dishes contain milk.

Do you bring staff to serve the drinks?

We bring bar staff, and serve throughout the agreed hours.

How much is a food truck for an event?

Every event is quoted individually, based on what you actually need. Tell us your date and numbers for a clear quote.

What do you need at the venue?

Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer, and a route in it can fit through, plus the venue’s permission. Power and water arrangements are confirmed with each booking.

What happens if it rains?

The truck or trailer can serve in the rain, but guests need somewhere covered to eat and drink, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

Can we have a build-your-own taco bar?

We can. We can set up a build-your-own taco bar, served from the truck or a serving table, with fillings, salsas and toppings to choose from.

How the day works

We take care of everything you’ve booked, from set-up to service, so you can enjoy your event. Sunset in Sompting is around 9:20pm in June, so a summer drinks bar can run into the evening in daylight. For a bar running past dusk, ask the venue about outdoor lighting.

  1. First, we check your date.
  2. You get a suggested drinks list.
  3. We confirm power, water and the bar spot.
  4. The bar opens at the agreed time.
  5. We tidy up at the end.

Getting ready for the day

  • Tell us about narrow gates or low branches
  • Confirm the venue allows outside caterers
  • Choose a level, firm spot for the truck or trailer

A Mexican drinks bar in Sompting: local tips

Sompting is about 3 miles east of Worthing, in West Sussex. Whether your event is in the middle of Sompting or on the outskirts, we offer the same service: fresh service from our food truck or trailer, every diet planned for and a clear quote. We cover 371 places across West Sussex, from the larger towns to small villages. You can also see our page for Brighton, about 9 miles away.

If you have your heart set on Brooklands Park, ask the people who run it about vehicles, alcohol and licensing first. Anyone leaving the car at home will want to know that Lancing station is about 0.8 miles away. Drinks by the sea could work, as Sompting is within about 3 miles of the coast. Licensing on the seafront needs checking, and we’ll do that with you.

We cater events across the BN15 postcode area and the streets around it. Local streets include Osborne Drive, Western Road North and Osborne Close; for an event at home on any of them, tell us where the truck or trailer can park. For events just outside Sompting, we cover Lancing (1 mile east), East Worthing (1 mile south), Broadwater (2 miles west), Offington (2 miles west) and Salvington (3 miles west). We also cater in nearby towns such as Bognor Regis (15 miles west), Burgess Hill (13 miles north-east), Littlehampton (9 miles west), Shoreham-by-Sea (3 miles east), Rustington (8 miles west) and Storrington (8 miles north-west).

Nearby you’ll also find Old Castle (2.4 miles west) and Museum of Sussex Folklore (2.5 miles west). Green spaces nearby include Lancing Ring and Widewater Lagoon.

  • Nearby schools include The Sir Robert Woodard Academy (less than half a mile north-east) and Sompting Abbotts Preparatory School (0.7 miles north-west)
  • Pubs nearby include The Railway pub (0.8 miles south-east)

How we price Mexican bar hire

These are the factors that matter most:

  • How long we are needed on site
  • Travel, parking and access
  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • What’s on the menu

Pricing depends on the event. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Your quote sets it all out.

What to tell us

Good planning starts with a few facts. Try to include:

  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • A photo of the space, if it’s a garden or field
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many guests, along with any dietary needs, and you’ll get menu ideas and a price. To get started, fill in our quote form.

Planners, venues and businesses

Hosting a party at home? Send a photo of the space and tell us about access, and we’ll tell you honestly whether a truck or trailer will fit.

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We’ll provide the information the landowner or council asks for from us.

Tips for a smooth bar

To get the most from the bar, it helps to:

  • Tell us when the bar should open and close
  • Ask guests about allergies
  • Plan transport home for guests
  • Ask your venue about its licence early

We set up the bar before guests arrive, so drinks are ready when you are.

Margaritas for the drinks reception, licensing permitting.

How it compares

A self-service drinks table is simple but can run dry or go warm. A staffed bar keeps everything under control. Larger events can cost less per head, since the set-up is much the same either way. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

Can I do a taco night myself?

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles allergen information for you.

Not sure whether to do it yourself or book a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. Contact us for a quote to compare.
