Mexican street food near Hammer

Mexican street food in Hammer, from our food truck or trailer

A Mexican food truck pulls a crowd at any outdoor event. People follow the smell of warm tortillas, and orders are served quickly from the hatch. Popular choices include quesadillas, tacos and burritos, which works well for county and country shows and street food and farmers’ markets.

Near Hammer, events may be far from shops and cafés, so a taco truck is a welcome sight. You can book food, drinks or both, so one caterer can cover more of the day.

How it compares

For crew catering, sandwiches are easy but uninspiring. A hot meal keeps crew happy. Larger events can cost less per head, because the set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

What you get with us

What affects the price in Hammer

These are the factors that matter most:

  • The length of service
  • Food, drinks or both
  • How many guests we are serving
  • The menu you choose

A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, as there is no kitchen to hire. Ask us for a quote.

What we need to know

For a quote, it helps to have:

  • Your date and when you want service to start
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children

Each quote is tailored to your event. Tell us your date and guest numbers, and we will confirm whether we are available that day.

How far is Hammer from London?

It is about 40 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

Which station should guests use for Hammer?

Guests can use Haslemere station, about 1.5 miles east of Hammer.

Do you need power and water?

Tell us what the site has, such as a supply from the venue near where we’ll park, and we’ll confirm the arrangements with your quote.

Do you provide plates and napkins?

Ask us when you enquire. Tell us what your venue provides, and we will set out plates, napkins and cutlery in your quote.

How quickly can you serve?

Fillings are cooked ahead and kept hot, so orders are assembled quickly.

What’s on the menu?

We agree a sample menu with each client. Fillings might include chicken tinga, pork carnitas, al pastor-style pork and vegan options like black beans. See our menu for ideas.

Can you serve in the rain?

The truck or trailer can serve in the rain, but guests need somewhere covered to eat and drink, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

Can you cater in a back garden?

Yes, as long as there’s access and a level, firm spot. Tell us about the drive, gates and any slopes, and we will tell you honestly whether it works.

Catering for every guest

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. Our advice:

  • Check how traders handle peak times
  • Agree waste arrangements with traders
  • Put all trader information in one pack
  • Check allergen information is on display

We clear the pitch and leave it as we found it.

Catering for crew and hospitality areas.

Planning the serving area

We will be honest if a space won’t work, and suggest an alternative. The main points are:

  • Vehicle access to the pitch for set-up and break-down
  • Pitch space for the vehicle and a queue
  • Flat, firm ground

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise before booking.

What we offer

  • Quesadillas
  • Burrito bowls
  • Tacos
  • Loaded nachos
  • Burritos

How the day works

Guests tend to gather around the truck, so we plan a spot with space for people to queue. We can serve in the rain, but guests will need somewhere covered. At midsummer, events in Hammer stay light until about 9:20pm, so evening trading normally finishes in daylight in high summer. Winter markets, dark by about 4:00pm, need a well-lit pitch.

  1. It starts with your event details and pitch information.
  2. We confirm our menu, our pitch needs and the paperwork your event asks for.
  3. We arrive at the agreed time and set up on our pitch.
  4. Tacos, burritos and more are served to order while the event is open.
  5. When trading ends, we pack down and leave the pitch clean.

Before we arrive

  • Confirm the venue allows outside caterers
  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time

How to get a price

Not sure what you need yet? That’s fine: tell us about the occasion and the guests, and we’ll suggest a menu. To start, tell us about it on our contact page.

Planners, venues and businesses

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep you updated on timings and set-up.

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: where vehicles can park, access times and the paperwork they need. Tell us what your venue needs and we will work to it.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the serving.

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles allergen information for you.
