How we price Mexican street food

Pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

  • Whether you need disposables
  • What’s on the menu
  • Distance and access to the venue
  • The number of people

Access, parking and the distance to your venue can affect the price, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. The full price is confirmed in your quote.

Getting an accurate quote

You don’t need every detail fixed to get a quote, but these help:

  • How we drive in and where we can park
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • The date and rough timings
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children

Each quote is tailored to your event. Give us your date and numbers, and we’ll check availability at the same time.

Mexican street food in Hamstreet, from our food truck or trailer

We agree a stall menu with you, with fillings such as carnitas, chicken tinga or beef birria, plus a vegan option such as spiced mushrooms or black beans. Popular choices include burrito bowls, vegan tacos and tacos, which works well for school and charity events and summer fairs and fêtes.

Rural events near Hamstreet can be a long way from food outlets, so a taco truck is a welcome sight. You can book food, drinks or both, so one caterer can cover more of the day.

Catering for every guest

Nearly every event has some special diets. To cater well for them:

  • Ask about peak-time capacity
  • Check every diet is covered by the line-up
  • Share vehicle access times with traders
  • Confirm power and water with traders

We keep our pitch tidy and safe throughout the day.

Alcohol-free aguas frescas.

Should I do it myself?

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone has to serve all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

Is Mexican street food right for your event?

Burger and hot dog stalls are familiar but similar. A Mexican trader adds variety to a food line-up. Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: service time, staff, plates and napkins, travel and VAT. Contact us for a quote and we’ll set out what’s included.

What you get with us

  • A truck or trailer that comes to you
  • Allergen-aware menus
  • Fast service, even with a queue
  • Food and drinks from one caterer, if you want both

Step by step

On the day, we park the truck or trailer in the agreed spot and set up. Service starts at the time we have agreed, planned around your event. Christmas markets in Hamstreet trade in the dark from about 3:50pm, so a lit pitch helps visitors find the truck. At midsummer, daylight lasts until roughly 9:15pm.

  1. Send the event name, expected visitors and pitch size.
  2. We reply with our stall menu and what we need on site.
  3. We confirm power, water and access arrangements.
  4. On the day, we are ready before the busiest hours.
  5. At close, we pack down and tidy up.

Preparing for the day

  • Ask the venue about power and water
  • Arrange somewhere covered for guests to eat
  • Give us a contact for the day

Questions from Hamstreet

Do you come to school fairs around Hamstreet?

We can, as long as the school agrees and the truck or trailer can reach the pitch. Tell us the date, the site and roughly how many visitors you expect.

Which station should guests use for Hamstreet?

Ham Street station, in Hamstreet itself.

Can vegans eat at your stall?

Yes, always. We serve vegan fillings such as black beans or spiced mushrooms.

Will you have a stall at our event?

Tell us about your event, and we will reply with our availability and what we need.

Can you run a bar?

Yes, we do. Our drinks bar can be booked on its own or with food, with alcohol-free options such as aguas frescas. We will check the licensing for alcohol with you.

How much space do you need?

Access and level ground matter most: a firm spot for the truck or trailer, room for a queue and, for a taco bar, space for a serving table. If in doubt, send us a photo of the space and the way in.

How far ahead should we book?

As soon as you have a date. Peak dates go quickly, so it pays to ask early.

What about power on site?

It depends on the event and the set-up, so we confirm power and water arrangements with each booking. Let us know whether there is a supply near where we will park.

What we need at the venue

Access is the first thing to check for a truck or trailer. We need:

  • Flat, firm ground
  • Vehicle access to the pitch for set-up and break-down
  • Your trader pack and site rules

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly before booking.
