Mexican street food in Hookwood, served fresh

For festivals, numbers can be larger than most of our events, so tell us expected visitor numbers and trading hours and we will plan around them. It works well for summer fairs and fêtes and open days and community events, serving burrito bowls, burritos and loaded nachos.

Near Hookwood, events may be far from shops and cafés, so a hot-food truck is a big help. Food and drinks can be booked together or separately, so the food and drinks can come from one caterer.

Step by step

We get there well before you want to serve, set up the truck or trailer and get everything ready. When service opens, guests come up to the hatch or serving table. Christmas markets in Hookwood trade in the dark from about 3:55pm, so a lit pitch helps visitors find the truck. By contrast, a midsummer fair stays light until about 9:20pm.

  1. We check your dates.
  2. We agree the menu and the pitch.
  3. We send the paperwork your event asks for.
  4. We are ready to serve as visitors arrive.
  5. We serve, then clear the pitch at the end.

Should I do it myself?

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.

Is Mexican street food right for your event?

One-dish stalls leave some visitors out. Tacos, burritos, bowls and nachos give choice. What’s on the menu makes a difference to the total, so tell us what you have in mind. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

What affects the price in Hookwood

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:

  • Serving staff
  • Guest numbers
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • Travel, parking and access

Catering from a truck or trailer can be a practical alternative to a sit-down meal, because it needs no venue kitchen. Ask us for a quote.

What to tell us

Good planning starts with a few facts. Please include:

  • Expected numbers
  • A picture of where we’d park
  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • The date and rough timings

Send us the date, your venue or RH6 postcode and guest numbers, along with any dietary needs, and we will reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. Just send a quick message through our quote form.

Where the truck can go in Hookwood

The route in matters as much as the spot itself. We need:

  • Flat, firm ground
  • Pitch space for the vehicle and a queue
  • A pitch with space around it, away from tents and structures

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before you book.

Hookwood: your questions answered

Do you cater in villages like Hookwood?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

How far is Hookwood from London?

Roughly 23 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Of course. We can include vegetarian and vegan fillings like black beans or spiced mushrooms.

Can you serve in the rain?

The truck or trailer can serve in the rain, but your guests will want somewhere covered, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

Do you do crew catering?

We can. We can cook for crew, volunteers or a hospitality area as well as, or instead of, a public stall.

Do you provide plates and napkins?

Ask us when you enquire. Tell us what your venue provides, and we’ll confirm what’s included with your quote.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

Yes, with corn tortillas. Corn tortillas are naturally gluten-free, but some fillings, sauces and toppings may not be, so we plan gluten-free dishes carefully and give allergen information.

Can you plan for allergies?

We plan allergen-aware menus, including for nut allergies, and give allergen information for every dish. We keep options separate, but we cannot promise anything is completely allergen-free. Guests with severe allergies should talk to us before the event.
