Mexican street food in Horney Common

How our Mexican street food works in Horney Common

We agree a stall menu with you, perhaps chicken tinga, carnitas or birria, and a vegan filling like black beans. It works well for village fêtes and summer fairs and open-air performances, with quesadillas, loaded nachos and burrito bowls.

For a village fête or field event near Horney Common, a truck or trailer brings hot food to a rural site. Ground conditions and access matter, so tell us about them. Every guest is catered for, vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free included, with allergen information for everything we serve.

Mexican street food or something else?

Not every trader covers vegans and coeliacs. Our menu includes vegan and gluten-free options. A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, because it needs no venue kitchen. Ask us for a quote.

What Mexican street food costs

Your quote will be clear. The main things that affect it are:

  • How many staff you need
  • Food, drinks or both
  • The number of people
  • What’s on the menu

There’s no one-size-fits-all price for Mexican street food. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Your quote sets it all out.

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Your date and when you want service to start

Questions from Horney Common

Which station should guests use for Horney Common?

Guests can use Buxted station, about 2.8 miles south-east of Horney Common.

Can you bring a truck or trailer to venues in the High Weald National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and catering, so check with yours. We’ll follow the site rules.

How spicy is the food?

It is up to you: we can keep the main dishes mild, with hotter salsas served separately.

How long are you on site?

That depends on your event and menu. Timings are agreed in advance so everything fits your schedule.

Can we book you as a trader?

Send us the event details, dates and pitch information, and we will let you know if we’re available.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

Yes, with corn tortillas. Corn tortillas are naturally gluten-free, but some fillings, sauces and toppings may not be, so we check every dish and give allergen information.

Can you cater for guests who avoid dairy?

Yes, on request. Let us know your dairy-free numbers, and we will include them in the plan.

Can you serve in the rain?

We can serve from the hatch in the rain. Plan cover for guests, such as a marquee or gazebo, and tell us if heavy rain could make the ground soft.

Should I do it myself?

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party serving. With a caterer, you get the food and drinks without the work.

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Our taco bar guide explains how.

Step by step

Expect a friendly, organised team. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, set up our food truck or trailer, and serve without fuss. Christmas markets in Horney Common trade in the dark from about 3:55pm, so site lighting matters for traders and visitors alike. By contrast, a midsummer fair stays light until about 9:20pm.

  1. You send us the event, the dates and the pitch details.
  2. You get our stall menu, what we need at the pitch and the paperwork you request.
  3. We set up the truck or trailer on the pitch at the agreed time.
  4. Tacos, burritos and more are served to order while the event is open.
  5. When trading ends, we pack down and leave the pitch clean.
