What affects the price in Keycol

Each event is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • How many guests we are serving
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • How many staff you need
  • What’s on the menu

Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so tell us what you have in mind. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

Getting an accurate quote

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what to include:

  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • Gate widths, slopes and the ground
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • The date and time of the event

We need only a few details to quote: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. Contact us for a quote: just fill in our quote form.

Keycol: your questions answered

Do you cater in villages like Keycol?

Yes, we cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates, ground and parking.

How far is Keycol from central London?

About 35 miles from central London.

Can you feed our volunteers?

Yes. Crew, volunteer and hospitality catering is available, with or without a public stall.

Do you give allergen information?

We plan allergen-aware menus, including for nut allergies, with allergen information for every dish. We keep options separate, but we cannot promise anything is completely allergen-free. If a guest has a severe allergy, please talk to us before the event.

Can guests build their own tacos?

Yes. A build-your-own taco bar can be served from the truck or a serving station, with fillings, salsas and toppings to choose from.

Where do you cater?

We cater across London and the South East, Kent included. See all areas.

Is the food suitable for children?

Of course. Mild dishes, quesadillas and nachos can be part of the menu. Include children in your numbers.

Can you keep it mild?

We can keep it mild, and hotter salsas go on the side for guests who like heat.

Before you choose a spot

Access is the first thing to check for a truck or trailer. We need:

  • Vehicle access before and after the event

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise before booking.

How the day works

Guests tend to gather around the truck, so we plan a spot with space for people to queue. Rain does not generally stop us serving, but guests will need somewhere covered. Summer events in Keycol have daylight until about 9:15pm at midsummer and about 7:00pm by late September, so evening trading typically finishes in daylight in high summer. For winter markets, dark by about 3:50pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. Tell us about the event and pitch.
  2. We confirm our menu, pitch needs and paperwork.
  3. We set up in the agreed window.
  4. Orders are served from the hatch while the event runs.
  5. We clear and leave the pitch clean.

How to prepare

  • Give us your final numbers and diets
  • Find out what power and water are available
  • Arrange somewhere covered for guests to eat

Planning for every diet

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. We suggest:

  • Ask traders about serving speed at peak times
  • Provide seating near the food
  • Put all trader information in one pack
  • Ask traders about packaging and waste

Allergen details are on hand for every dish.

Nachos for groups.

Who books Mexican street food in Keycol?

One trader, several diets, which saves pitches.

Almost any gathering can work with a truck or trailer. In Keycol, you could book us for events such as:

  • Open days and community events
  • Seasonal and night markets
  • Sports club events
  • Outdoor cinema and theatre nights

Organisers of a summer fête for a church such as Church of St Bartholomew could add tacos and burritos alongside the bric-a-brac.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Who provides plates and napkins
  • If the price includes VAT
  • Exactly what’s included in the price
  • How late numbers can change

How to compare caterers

Can I do a taco night myself?

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. With a caterer, you get the food and drinks without the work.
