Near you in Holywell

Events here might be close to The Red House, St Oswald's Parish Church and King George V Playing Fields. You’ll also find Croxley Danes School (0.6 miles north-west), Westfield Academy (within half a mile east) and Ascot Road Community Free School (less than half a mile north). For guests coming by rail, the closest station is Watford High Street station, about 1.4 miles east. A little further out are Hertfordshire Fire Brigade Museum (1.5 miles east) and Watford General Hospital (0.9 miles east). Open spaces near Holywell include Tumbling Bay and Chorleywood Common.

Planning a food truck in WD99

WD99 covers everything from Holywell to 0 small villages and hamlets, and a truck or trailer suits most settings with access and level ground. In towns, plan parking and loading; in villages, tell us about lanes, gates and ground.

Holywell: Close to Holywell are historic houses such as High Elms Manor (4.1 miles north) and Headstone Manor (4.6 miles south-east). If your event is at a historic house or estate, check its rules on outside caterers and vehicles early. A gathering in King George V Playing Fields would need the park owner’s say-so for any catering vehicle, and that is worth sorting out early. Evenings in Holywell stay light until about 9:25pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm. For anything running past sunset, think about lights near the hatch.

Is Mexican catering right for you?

A cold buffet is simple but tends to sit out for hours. Tacos and burritos are made to order and served hot.

Questions to ask before you book

  • How bad weather is handled
  • Whether travel is included
  • Whether plates, napkins and cutlery are included

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • Parking and the route in
  • How many staff you need
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • How long we are needed on site

Larger events can cost less per head, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

About the menu

Loaded nachos

Tortilla chips piled with cheese, a filling, salsa, guacamole and toppings, made for sharing.

Tacos

Tacos are the classic street food of Mexico. They come with fresh salsas and toppings, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests.

Before you choose a spot

Access is the first thing to check for a truck or trailer. We need:

  • Space for guests to queue
  • A flat, firm spot where the truck or trailer can stand
  • Power and water, which we confirm with you for each booking

Planners, venues and businesses

Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we will explain how it works. We’re happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep everyone informed on the day.

Common questions in WD99

What are your prices?

We quote for each event, depending on numbers, menu, venue and timings. For a price, drop us a line using the enquiry form.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

Our truck and trailer service typically suits events of around 50 to 400 guests. Festivals can be bigger, and smaller parties are quoted case by case. Send us your numbers and we’ll advise.

How far ahead should we book?

As soon as you have a date. Peak dates go quickly, so it pays to ask early.

Do you cater for vegetarians, vegans and gluten-free guests?

We can. We plan vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, with corn tortillas for gluten-free guests. We give allergen information for every dish.

How spicy is the food?

It is up to you: we can keep it mild and put the hotter salsas on the side. Read more about how spicy Mexican food is.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

Yes, with corn tortillas. Corn tortillas are naturally gluten-free, but some fillings, sauces and toppings may not be, so we check every dish and give allergen information.

What happens if it rains?

Rain doesn’t typically stop service from the truck or trailer. Plan cover for guests, such as a marquee or gazebo, and tell us if heavy rain could make the ground soft.
