How our wedding Mexican catering works in Ashurst

Wedding taco bars feel relaxed, generous and a little different. Everyone fills their own tortillas from the fillings, salsas and toppings, and the queue becomes a chance to chat. At marquee and garden weddings and vow renewals and blessings, we can serve a taco bar for the wedding breakfast, tacos and fresh guacamole and salsas and more.

Near Ashurst, weddings are often in fields, barns or gardens. A truck or trailer works well there: no venue kitchen needed, just level, firm ground and a way in. Let us know about access, ground, power and water. Your quote sets out what’s included: the menu, the service time and any extras you choose.

Should I do it myself?

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Read our guide to taco bars.

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label anything containing allergens.

For planners, venues and organisers

Throwing a party at home? Send us a photo of the space and tell us about the drive and gates, and we will tell you honestly whether a truck or trailer will fit.

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we’re happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Space, access and the venue

Plenty of outdoor spaces and venues work for us, but there are a few things to check:

  • A sensible distance from buildings and neighbours
  • Hardstanding or firm, level ground to park on
  • A serving spot close to the marquee or reception area

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise.

Menu ideas

  • Margarita bar
  • Guacamole and salsas
  • Evening tacos
  • Taco bar wedding breakfast

We take diets and allergies seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Ask about diets and allergies with your RSVPs
  • Think about a covered space for wet weather
  • Let us know about severe allergies in writing
  • Put us in touch with your venue

We have allergen details for every dish, and dishes are labelled.

Add our drinks bar for margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas, with licensing checked with you and your venue.

Why choose wedding Mexican catering in Ashurst?

Evening food is often pizza or bacon rolls. Evening tacos are something different, and they’re just as easy to eat. The cost per head can fall as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we will quote.

Why us?

  • Quick, friendly service from the hatch
  • Catering across Kent, including Ashurst
  • Book food, drinks or both
  • A menu agreed with you

See our prices page and our guide to catering costs.

How the day works

When we arrive, we park the truck or trailer in the agreed spot and set up. Service starts at the time we’ve agreed, planned around your event. At midsummer, sunset in Ashurst is about 9:20pm, so we can time the evening food around your photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:50pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

  1. We start with your date, venue, guest numbers and ideas for the day.
  2. We plan the food with you: wedding breakfast, evening food or both.
  3. We agree access, timings, power and water with you and your venue.
  4. On the day we set up and serve when your running order says.
  5. Once service is done, we pack away quietly.

Getting ready for the day

  • Ask the venue about power and water
  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough
  • Choose a level, firm spot for the truck or trailer

FAQs for Ashurst

How far is Ashurst from London?

About 28 miles from central London, and we cover it.

Do you cater in villages like Ashurst?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

Can you come to a private house?

Yes, as long as there’s access and a level, firm spot. Send us a photo of the access and the space, and we’ll tell you honestly whether it works.

Will you talk to our venue?

Yes. We will speak to your venue about access and timings.

When should we book?

The sooner the better. Popular dates go first, so it pays to ask early.

Do you have gluten-free options?

Yes, with corn tortillas. Corn is naturally gluten-free, though some sauces and toppings can contain gluten, so we check every dish and give allergen information.

Do you need power and water?

That depends on the set-up, and we agree power and water with you before the day. Let us know whether there’s a supply near where we will park.

Can you serve drinks at our wedding?

You can add our drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas. Your venue’s licence or a Temporary Event Notice will be needed for alcohol, and we’ll check that with you.
