About our wedding Mexican catering in Fern

Service is planned around your running order: whether that is straight after the photos or later in the evening. Timings are agreed with your venue in advance. On the menu are evening tacos, loaded nachos and tacos, and it is a good fit for garden and marquee weddings and big weddings with every diet.

Near Fern, weddings are often in fields, barns or gardens. A truck or trailer works well there: no kitchen, just firm ground and access. Tell us about lanes, gates and ground conditions. Guests are served from our truck or trailer, or from a serving table nearby, and we plan the service around your numbers.

Step by step

We work to your timings. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, tell us and we’ll adjust the start of service where we can. In Fern, midsummer sunset is about 9:25pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:05pm, so evening tacos are usually served in daylight in high summer. For autumn and winter weddings, when it is dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting around the truck or trailer.

  1. We start by checking your date.
  2. You pick the menu with us.
  3. We confirm access and the serving spot with your coordinator.
  4. Guests build their tacos at the taco bar or order at the hatch.
  5. We serve, then pack down.

Preparing for the day

  • Measure any gates or arches on the way in
  • Have level hardstanding or firm ground ready

Planning help

Should I do it myself?

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Our taco bar guide explains how.

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label anything containing allergens.

Wedding Mexican catering or something else?

If you are weighing up a taco bar against a traditional menu, consider the venue, the diets and the style you want. Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. Your quote confirms the full price.

For planners, venues and organisers

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: where vehicles can park, access times and the paperwork they need. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work to it.

Throwing a party at home? Send a photo of the space and tell us about access, and we’ll tell you honestly whether a truck or trailer will fit.

Fern questions

Which station should guests use for Fern?

Guests can use Bourne End station, about 1.1 miles south-east of Fern.

Can you cater a reception after a service at Church of St John the Baptist?

Yes, at a garden, field or venue nearby where the truck or trailer can park. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

How soon do we need to book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Even if it is short notice, it is worth asking.

What do you need at the venue?

The main things are access and a level spot: a level spot to park, space for guests to queue and a little room for a serving table. Send us a photo and tell us about gates, slopes and soft ground.

Can we add margaritas?

You can add our drinks bar, with bar staff serving your guests. Alcohol needs the right licence, so we’ll check that with you.

Can you run a bar?

Yes. The drinks bar can be added to food or booked on its own. For alcohol, we will check the licensing with you and your venue.

Do you have options for kids?

Yes. We can keep dishes mild, and simple options such as quesadillas or nachos can be part of the menu. Include children in your numbers.

What if the photos overrun?

It happens at most weddings. Service starts when your running order says.

Planning the serving area

Access is the first thing to check for a truck or trailer. We look for:

  • A route in that is wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance
  • Permission from the venue or landowner
  • Room for a queue in front of the serving hatch

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Prices and what affects them

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:

  • Guest numbers
  • Timings and hours
  • Whether you need disposables
  • What’s on the menu

Got a budget? Let us know, and we’ll suggest a menu that fits. Even a simple menu can feel generous.

What to tell us

When you contact us, it helps to tell us:

  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • The date and rough timings
  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground
  • Where the event is

Not sure what you need yet? That is fine: tell us about the occasion and the guests, and we’ll suggest a menu. To start, use our quote form.
