About our wedding Mexican catering in Picket Piece

A food truck or trailer suits barns, marquees, gardens and venues with hardstanding, as long as we can drive in safely and park on level ground. On the menu are loaded nachos, fresh guacamole and salsas and quesadillas, and it is a good fit for farm and barn venues and engagement parties at home.

Weddings in a place like Picket Piece often feel personal: a local church, then a marquee in a garden or field. A truck or trailer parked by the marquee fits right in. Tell us about access to the field or garden. We arrive ready to serve, and clear our own area when service is finished.

Planners, venues and businesses

Hosting a party at home? Send us a picture of the space and tell us about the drive and gates, and we will tell you honestly whether a truck or trailer will fit.

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

How it compares

Buffets can mean food waiting for a while. Our food is served hot from the truck or trailer when guests are ready. Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so tell us what you have in mind. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

Why us?

  • A plan agreed before the day
  • Allergen-aware menus
  • Quoted for your event
  • Options for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan guests

How the day works

We need a level, firm spot we can drive the truck or trailer onto, and we agree power and water arrangements before the day. Send us a photo of the space if you’re unsure. For a summer wedding in Picket Piece, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so evening tacos are usually served in daylight in high summer. For autumn and winter weddings, when it’s dark by about 4:00pm in December, plan lighting around the truck or trailer.

  1. Tell us your date, venue and numbers.
  2. We plan the wedding breakfast, evening food or both with you.
  3. Timings are agreed with your venue.
  4. On the day, we set up and serve on cue.
  5. We clear our area once service ends.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about narrow gates or low branches
  • Give us a contact for the day

Prices and what affects them

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • Travel, parking and access
  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food
  • What the venue already provides
  • What’s on the menu

Pricing depends on the event. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Contact us for a quote.

Getting an accurate quote

To check availability and price, we need:

  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground
  • The address or venue name
  • Your date and when you want service to start
  • What you’d like on the menu

It is easy to get a price: share your date, venue, numbers and diets. We will send you a clear quote and a suggested menu.

Before you choose a spot

No two venues are the same, so we will ask about yours when you get in touch. Generally, we look for:

  • Space for guests to queue
  • A route in that is wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance
  • A spot away from buildings, windows and neighbours

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly.

FAQs for Picket Piece

Is Picket Piece close to London?

Roughly 61 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it.

What’s the nearest station to Picket Piece for guests?

The closest is Andover station, roughly 2.4 miles away.

Can you do dairy-free food?

Yes, on request. Let us know your dairy-free numbers, and we’ll include them in the plan.

Do you provide allergen information for each dish?

Yes, and it helps to hear about allergies when you book. Under UK rules, caterers must give information on 14 allergens, and we do that for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). Anyone with a severe allergy should speak to us before the event.

Do you provide plates and napkins?

Please ask us. Tell us what your venue provides, and we will confirm what’s included with your quote.

Do you do a wedding bar?

You can add our drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas. Alcohol needs the right licence, so we’ll check that with you.

What if the weather’s bad?

The truck or trailer can serve in the rain, but guests need somewhere covered to eat and drink, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

How long do you serve for?

We get there well before service to set up. Serving times are agreed with you in advance.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles allergen information for you.

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the serving.

  • Served from our truck or trailer at your venue, garden or event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, with allergen information
  • Tacos and taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas
  • Mexican drinks bar: margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas
