About our Mexican catering in Buxted

Tacos are the heart of the menu: warm tortillas with your choice of fillings, plus fresh salsas, guacamole and toppings. We can add burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas. Popular choices include burritos, quesadillas and fresh salsas and guacamole, and it’s a good fit for charity and school events and big birthday celebrations.

In a rural place like Buxted, access is the main thing to plan: the gate, the ground and the route from the lane. Power and water may be limited, so we confirm the arrangements with you. We prepare everything fresh for your event and serve it straight from our food truck or trailer.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the serving.

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Read our guide to taco bars.

What’s on the menu

Quesadillas

Toasted tortillas with melted cheese inside, cut into wedges.

Burritos and burrito bowls

Rice, beans, a filling and toppings rolled in a large tortilla, or served as a bowl instead.

Perfect for your event in Buxted

You don’t need a kitchen, so gardens, fields and outdoor venues are all possible.

Almost any gathering can work with a truck or trailer. In Buxted, you could book us for events such as:

  • Summer garden parties
  • Anniversaries and engagements
  • Charity and school events
  • Company summer parties

When the service is at a church such as Church of St Mary the Virgin, the food generally happens elsewhere, at a field, hall or garden with room for the truck.

Questions to ask before you book

  • How many staff are serving, and for how long
  • What happens if it rains
  • Travel and parking costs
  • What the caterer needs from your venue

What happens on the day

Once service is over, we pack down and clear our own area. We agree set-up and pack-down times with you and your venue. Evenings in Buxted stay light until about 9:15pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm. For anything running past sunset, think about lights near the hatch.

  1. It begins with the basics: your date, venue, guest numbers and dietary needs.
  2. You get a suggested menu, with fillings agreed with you, and a quote.
  3. Together we confirm where the truck or trailer will park, plus power and water.
  4. We arrive, set up and cook to order, with salsas and guacamole made fresh.
  5. Once everyone has eaten, we tidy our serving area and head off.

Getting ready for the day

  • Get the venue’s permission for us to park and serve

Planning the serving area

The route in matters as much as the spot itself. We need:

  • Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer
  • Permission from the venue or landowner
  • Details of power and water on site, agreed when you book

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

Mexican catering or something else?

Next to a hog roast or a barbecue, tacos make vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests easier to cater for, because fillings and toppings are kept separate.
