Planning a food truck in Hailsham
Hailsham is about 6 miles north of Eastbourne, in East Sussex. For Mexican catering in Hailsham, we can park up at venues, fields, drives and courtyards in and around Hailsham. Hailsham is one of 289 towns and villages in East Sussex where we can bring Mexican catering. Our truck and trailer cover the area from Hailsham to Brighton (about 17 miles away).
By road, Hailsham is on or near the A271 and A295, which makes it easy for us to reach with the truck or trailer. If people are travelling in by rail, the nearest station is Polegate station, about 3 miles south. With the South Downs National Park about 6 miles away at most, a rural setting is never far from Hailsham. Country lanes there can be narrow and verges soft, so tell us about the route in.
We cover events in every part of the BN27 postcode area and the streets around it. Streets in the area include High Street, Market Place and Station Road, and an event on any of them can work if the truck or trailer can park nearby. You will find Hailsham on the A271 and A295, which makes it straightforward to bring the truck or trailer. Close by, we cover events in Tile Hurst (1 mile north-west), Upper Horsebridge (1 mile north), Hellingly (1 mile north), Lower Horsebridge (1 mile north-west) and Magham Down (2 miles north-east). Further out, we also cater in Eastbourne (6 miles south), Hastings (13 miles east), Bexhill-on-Sea (9 miles east), Seaford (9 miles south-west), Lewes (11 miles west) and Crowborough (14 miles north). As one of the bigger places in East Sussex, Hailsham has plenty of venues and spaces for events.
Other landmarks nearby include Herstmonceux Castle (3.6 miles east) and Amberstone Hospital (1.5 miles north-east). Green spaces nearby include Combe Hill.
- Local schools include White House Academy (less than half a mile east)
- Pubs nearby include The Grenadier pub (under half a mile north)
How we price Mexican catering
We quote for your event, which reflects:
- The number of people
- Serving staff
- What the venue already provides
- Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: serving hours, staff, disposables, travel and VAT. Contact us for a quote and we will set out what’s included.
Getting an accurate quote
You do not need every detail fixed to get a quote, but these help:
- What you’d like on the menu
- Roughly how many adults and children
- A picture of the space, if it’s a garden or field
- The date and time of the event
Every quote is put together for your event. Tell us your date and guest numbers, and we’ll check availability at the same time.
Hailsham: your questions answered
Could you serve our guests after a service at The Parish Church of Saint Mary?
Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.
How far is Hailsham from central London?
Roughly 46 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it.
Can you serve in the rain?
We can serve from the hatch in the rain. It’s worth planning a covered area for guests, and tell us if heavy rain could make the ground soft.
Do you bring plates and cutlery?
Please ask us. Let us know what you already have, and we’ll confirm what’s included with your quote.
Can you come to a private house?
Yes, as long as there’s access and a level, firm spot. Tell us about the drive, gates and any slopes.
How much space do you need?
Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer, and a route in it can fit through, and the venue’s agreement. Power and water arrangements are confirmed with each booking.
Can you do gluten-free food?
Yes, gluten-free options are available, using corn tortillas. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can talk through how their food is prepared.
Can you plan for allergies?
We plan allergen-aware menus, including for nut allergies, and give allergen information for every dish. We plan carefully and keep options separate, though we can’t promise a dish is allergen-free. Guests with severe allergies should talk to us before the event.
Before you choose a spot
We serve from a truck or trailer, so where we park matters. These are the things we check:
- Space for a taco-bar table if you’ve chosen one
- Hardstanding or firm, level ground to park on
- A clear area in front of the hatch for a queue
Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

Step by step
When service finishes, we pack down and clear our own area. We agree set-up and pack-down times with you and your venue. In Hailsham, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:00pm in late September, so summer evening events are normally served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.
- First, send us your date, venue, numbers and any diets we should know about.
- You get a suggested menu, with fillings agreed with you, and a quote.
- We check access, power and water with you or the venue.
- On the day, we set up and serve from the truck or trailer, or from a taco-bar station.
- After service, we clear away and leave the spot tidy.

About the menu
Burritos and burrito bowls
A burrito is a meal in one. The bowl version suits anyone avoiding tortillas.
Build-your-own taco bar
Fillings, salsas, guacamole and toppings laid out for guests to help themselves, with warm tortillas to fill. Each guest makes tacos their way.
Mexican catering or something else?
With a barbecue, someone typically ends up stuck at the grill. Book us and the cooking happens in our truck or trailer, so you can enjoy your event. A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, because it needs no venue kitchen. Ask us for a quote.
