Mexican catering in Chalk, from our truck or trailer

A build-your-own taco bar is one of the most sociable ways to feed a crowd. Guests fill their own tortillas from the fillings, salsas and toppings, so each plate is exactly how they like it. It suits weddings and evening receptions and milestone birthdays, with quesadillas, burrito bowls and fresh salsas and guacamole.

Somewhere as small as Chalk, a garden or field is often the venue. Tell us about narrow lanes, gates and long drives and we will plan for them, and firm ground matters, especially after rain. We will check the space, access and power with you before the day, so there are no surprises on arrival.

Should I do it myself?

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Read our guide to taco bars.

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

Who books Mexican catering in Chalk?

Food is cooked to order and served hot, rather than sitting out on a buffet table.

A truck or trailer works for big and small events alike. Common bookings include:

  • Engagement celebrations
  • Garden get-togethers
  • Family celebrations
  • Charity and school events

Nearby historic houses include Cobham College (2.8 miles south) and Temple Manor (4.4 miles south-east). Venues like these often limit where vehicles can go, so ask about access before you book one.

What your quote should include

  • Whether VAT is included
  • Any travel, parking or access charges
  • What the price includes, item by item

Questions to ask before booking

Questions from Chalk

Do you come out to small places like Chalk?

Yes, we cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking for the truck or trailer.

Is it possible to have you in Shorne Woods Country Park?

It depends on the park’s owner, who would need to agree to a catering vehicle on site. Ask them first; if they say yes, we will send what they need from us.

Do you have gluten-free options?

Yes, we offer gluten-free options, using corn tortillas. Tell us about any coeliac guests before the event so we can explain how we prepare their food. See are corn tortillas gluten-free?

Is the food very hot?

It is up to you: we can keep it mild and put the hotter salsas on the side.

Do you provide allergen information for each dish?

Yes, and it helps to hear about allergies when you book. UK law requires caterers to provide information on 14 allergens, and we do that for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). For severe allergies, please talk to us first.

What do you serve?

Mexican street food and drinks: tacos, taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas, with salsas, guacamole and toppings. A drinks bar is available too.

Do you bring plates and cutlery?

That’s confirmed with each quote. Tell us whether your venue has crockery or you’d prefer disposables and we’ll talk it through.

What can we choose from?

We agree the menu with each client, with fillings such as chicken tinga, carnitas or black beans. Take a look at the sample menu.

What happens on the day

The truck or trailer needs a level, firm spot with access to drive in, and we agree power and water arrangements before the day. A picture of the space helps. Winter evenings in Chalk close in by about 3:50pm, so choose a spot where guests can see what they’re ordering. In late June, by contrast, daylight lasts until about 9:20pm.

  1. It begins with the basics: your date, venue, guest numbers and dietary needs.
  2. You get a suggested menu, with fillings agreed with you, and a quote.
  3. Before the day, we agree access, the serving spot, power and water.
  4. On the day we arrive, set up and serve hot food from our truck or trailer.
  5. Once everyone has eaten, we tidy our serving area and head off.

Getting ready for the day

Tacos

Tacos are the classic street food of Mexico. We serve them with salsas and toppings, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests.

Quesadillas

A quesadilla is an easy favourite, and they go down well with children.

For planners, venues and organisers

Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we will keep everyone informed on the day.

Events in public spaces, like parks, normally need permission. We can send what the landowner or council needs from us.

Where the truck can go in Chalk

We will be honest if a space won’t work, and suggest an alternative. What matters most:

  • Space for guests to queue
  • A route in that’s wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance
  • The venue’s or landowner’s permission for a catering vehicle

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise before booking.

How it compares

If you want food that feels relaxed without being basic, tacos, burritos and nachos make a strong choice. A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, because it needs no venue kitchen. Ask us for a quote.

Why book with us

  • Catering across Kent, including Chalk
  • A truck or trailer that comes to you
  • A menu agreed with you
  • Food and drinks from one caterer, if you want both

Take a look at our prices page or our guide to catering costs.

What Mexican catering costs

Your quote will be clear. The main things that affect it are:

  • How many staff you need
  • Whether you need disposables
  • How long we are needed on site
  • The number of people

The cost per head can fall as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

What to tell us

When you get in touch, it helps to tell us:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground
  • Your date and when you want service to start
  • Where the event is

Still deciding on the menu? No problem: give us the basics about your event, and we will make suggestions. To start, send a quick message through our quote form.
