Planning the serving area

Plenty of outdoor spaces and venues work for us, but a few things matter:

  • Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer
  • A spot away from buildings, windows and neighbours
  • Room for a serving table for the taco bar

In Ladywell, as everywhere in Greater London, the ULEZ applies and kerb space is limited. Where will the truck or trailer stop? A drive, a courtyard or a suspended bay can all work.

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly.

How our Mexican catering works in Ladywell

Our truck and trailer service tends to suit around 50 to 400 guests. Larger festivals and smaller parties are looked at case by case, so tell us your numbers. For big birthday celebrations and wedding breakfasts and evening food, we’ll put together a menu of loaded nachos, burritos and fresh salsas and guacamole.

In a London neighbourhood like Ladywell, the first thing to plan for a food truck is parking and loading. Narrow streets and permit bays decide where we can stop, so tell us about a driveway, a courtyard or whether a parking suspension is needed when you ask for a quote. All of Greater London, Ladywell included, is inside the ULEZ. We plan the timings around your day, whether that is speeches, a lunch break or a festival schedule.

Dietary needs and planning tips

A Mexican menu is easy to plan for mixed diets, because guests can choose what suits them. A few tips:

  • Add a dietary question to your RSVP
  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Flag anyone with coeliac disease
  • Ask guests with severe allergies to talk to us before the event

If timings change on the day, tell us and we’ll adjust.

Quesadillas go down well with children.

Ladywell questions

Is it possible to have you in Ladywell Fields?

Only with permission from whoever runs the park, often the council. Check with them, and we will provide what they ask for from us.

What’s the nearest station to Ladywell for guests?

Guests can use Ladywell station, which is right in Ladywell.

Do you cater for vegetarians, vegans and gluten-free guests?

We plan carefully for diets and keep options separate, but we cannot promise a kitchen without traces of any allergen. Anyone with a severe allergy should speak to us first.

When should we book?

The sooner the better. Peak dates go quickly, so it pays to ask early.

What do you need at the venue?

Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer, and a route in it can fit through, plus the venue’s permission. Power and water arrangements are confirmed with each booking.

Can you run a bar?

Yes, we run a Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and soft drinks. Alcohol at an event may need a licence, such as a premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice, so we will go through the licensing with you.

What about power on site?

Tell us what the site has, such as a supply from the venue near where we will park, and we will confirm what we need with your quote.

Are plates and napkins included?

Please ask us. Tell us what your venue provides, and we will set out plates, napkins and cutlery in your quote.

Why choose Mexican catering in Ladywell?

Next to a hog roast or a barbecue, tacos make vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests easier to cater for, thanks to separate fillings and toppings. The cost per head can fall as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

What you get with us

  • Quick, friendly service from the hatch
  • Access, space and power checked in advance
  • Everything served fresh from the hatch
  • Menus for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests

See our pricing or the cost guide.

What happens on the day

A typical event goes like this: we park up and get ready, service opens at the agreed time, and your guests are served fresh for the agreed time. Around midsummer it stays light in Ladywell until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and venue.
  2. Together we plan a menu around your guests’ diets.
  3. We confirm the way in and where we will park.
  4. Food is served from the hatch or a taco-bar table.
  5. After the last serving, we clear our area.
