Local landmarks in Telegraph Hill
Around Telegraph Hill, we can cater at gardens, homes and venues near St Catherine's Hatcham, Haberdashers' Hatcham College and Haberdashers' Aske's Hatcham Temple Grove Free School and the streets around them. Other local landmarks include Southwark Free School (1.3 miles north-west), The Brockley Barge pub (within half a mile south-east) and Fordham Park (0.8 miles north-east). Telegraph Hill has its own railway station: Brockley station, handy for guests travelling by train. Planning a food truck in SE4
From New Cross, Nunhead and Telegraph Hill to 0 villages and hamlets, events across SE4 range from town-centre venues to gardens and fields, and a food truck or trailer can work in all of them, given access. Town events mean planning parking; village events mean planning access and ground.
Telegraph Hill: For a christening or wedding at a church such as St Catherine's Hatcham, a food truck at a garden or venue nearby is an easy way to feed everyone. If you are organising a summer fair for a school like Haberdashers' Aske's Hatcham Temple Grove Free School, a taco truck can be a crowd-pleaser. Evenings in Telegraph Hill stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm. Festoon lights or floodlights help once it gets dark.
Dietary needs and planning tips
Most events have a mix of diets. To plan for them:
- Give us separate numbers for children
- Mention any other caterers or courses
- Confirm allergies by email before the event
- Ask guests about diets and allergies with your invitations
We can still serve from the hatch if it rains, but guests will need somewhere covered to eat.
Quesadillas go down well with children, because they’re simple.
How it compares
A drop-off platter is easy, but nobody remembers it. Hot food served from a truck feels like part of the event.

DIY taco night versus a caterer
Weighing up a DIY taco night against a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Ask us for a quote and compare.
A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, with allergen information for every dish.

Common questions in SE4
How long are you on site?
We arrive in good time to set up before service. The length of service is agreed when you book.
Can you do gluten-free food?
Yes, with corn tortillas. Corn tortillas are naturally gluten-free, but some fillings, sauces and toppings may not be, so we plan gluten-free dishes carefully and give allergen information.
Can guests build their own tacos?
Yes, a taco bar is one of the ways we serve. Let us know your numbers and space and we will recommend how to serve.
How much will it cost?
Every event is quoted for individually, based on guest numbers, the menu, the venue and timings. For a price, use our quote form.
How does mobile Mexican catering work?
Our food truck or trailer is a mobile kitchen. We set up at your venue, serve hot food to order and pack down afterwards.
What do you serve?
We agree a sample menu with each client. Fillings could include chicken tinga, pork carnitas, al pastor-style pork and vegan options like black beans. See our menu for ideas.
Do you give allergen information?
Yes. Tell us about allergies when you book. UK law requires caterers to provide information on 14 allergens, and we give it for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). For severe allergies, please talk to us first.
