Planning a food truck in Lullington

Lullington is about 3 miles north-east of Seaford, in East Sussex. Events in Lullington are planned around your venue and timings: a clear quote, agreed timings and fresh service on the day. We cater in 289 places in East Sussex, from the larger towns to small villages. Our nearest city page is Brighton, about 13 miles away.

Close to Lullington are historic houses such as Alfriston Clergy House (less than half a mile north-west) and Charleston Farmhouse (3.4 miles north-west). If your event is at a historic house or estate, check its rules on outside caterers and vehicles early. If people are travelling in by rail, Berwick (Sussex) station is about 2.6 miles away. Lullington is within about a mile of the South Downs National Park, with country venues and gardens that can suit a food truck. Some venues in protected landscapes have rules about vehicles and catering, so check with yours. With the sea within about 4 miles, a beach-side event might appeal. Promenades and beaches normally need permission, and the truck or trailer has to park on firm ground, not sand.

Mexican catering in Lullington, from our food truck or trailer

We bring our food truck or trailer to events in and around Lullington: gardens, fields, yards and venues with hardstanding, as long as there is safe access. We serve a build-your-own taco bar, burrito bowls and burritos, and it’s a good fit for festivals, fairs and markets and fundraisers and school events.

Somewhere as small as Lullington, a garden or field is often the venue. Country lanes, long drives and gates are fine if we know about them, and firm ground matters, especially after rain. We cater for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan guests, with allergen information for everything we serve.

We’ll agree the spot with you before the day. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:

  • Clear vehicle access: gate widths, height limits and the ground checked before the day
  • A spot away from buildings, windows and neighbours

Dietary needs and planning tips

Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Try these:

  • Guests with serious allergies should speak to us in advance
  • Make sure the menu has a vegan option
  • Send allergy details to us in writing
  • Think about cover for guests in wet weather

Once everyone has eaten, we tidy up and pack away, leaving the space as we found it.

Margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas can be added from our drinks bar, with licensing checked with you.

The process

When service finishes, we pack down and clear our own area. We agree set-up and pack-down times with you and your venue. Around midsummer it stays light in Lullington until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening events are usually served in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting around the truck and the queue.

  1. First, send us a few details about your event.
  2. We suggest fillings and extras and send a quote.
  3. We agree access, the serving spot, power and water.
  4. We arrive, set up and serve from the hatch.
  5. Once service ends, we clear away.

Preparing for the day

  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough
  • Let us know the timings for the day
  • Ask the venue about power and water

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: where vehicles can park, access times and the paperwork they need. Tell us what your venue needs and we will work to it.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Read our guide to taco bars.

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.
