How our Mexican catering works in Mongewell

Tacos are the heart of the menu: warm tortillas with your choice of fillings, plus fresh salsas, guacamole and toppings. Burritos, burrito bowls, loaded nachos and quesadillas can sit alongside them. At fundraisers and school events and retirement and leaving parties, we’ll put together a menu of burrito bowls, a build-your-own taco bar and quesadillas and more.

In a small place like Mongewell, events are usually in a garden, a field or a nearby hall. Country lanes, long drives and gates are fine if we know about them, and soft ground after rain is worth mentioning. Access, space and power are agreed with you beforehand, so set-up goes smoothly.

How it works

Guests tend to gather around the truck, so we plan a spot with space for people to queue. We can serve in the rain, but guests will need somewhere covered. A December event in Mongewell will be in the dark from about 3:55pm, so choose a spot where guests can see what they’re ordering. At midsummer, the light holds until around 9:25pm.

  1. Begin with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. We come back with menu ideas and a quote.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm timings and arrangements.
  4. At the agreed time, service starts from the truck or trailer.
  5. We pack away when service is over.

How we price Mexican catering

Each event is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Timings and hours
  • What’s on the menu
  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • Guest numbers

Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the length of service, plus any add-ons and the location. Every event gets its own quote.

What we need to know

When you get in touch, it helps to tell us:

  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • The address or venue name
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • Expected numbers

We need only a few details to quote: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. Contact us for a quote: just tell us about it on our contact page.

Perfect for your event in Mongewell

Food is cooked to order and served hot, rather than sitting out on a buffet table.

A truck or trailer works for big and small events alike. Common bookings include:

  • Leaving parties
  • Weddings, day or evening
  • Garden parties
  • Markets and community events

For a fête or sports day at a school such as Crowmarsh Gifford Church of England School, hot food from a truck or trailer saves the volunteers from cooking.

  • Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer
  • Power and water arrangements, confirmed with each booking
  • Permission from the venue or landowner

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly.

FAQs for Mongewell

Can you bring a truck or trailer to venues in the North Wessex Downs National Landscape?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

Can you cater a reception after a service at St Mary's Church?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

Do you need power and water?

That depends on the set-up, so we confirm power and water arrangements with each booking. Tell us what’s available at your venue.

What happens if it rains?

We can serve from the hatch in the rain. Plan cover for guests, such as a marquee or gazebo, and let us know if the ground gets soft after heavy rain.

Do you have dairy-free options?

Yes, on request. Tell us how many guests need dairy-free food, and we’ll include them in the plan.

Do you bring plates and cutlery?

That is confirmed with each quote. Tell us whether your venue has crockery or you’d prefer disposables and we will talk it through.

What do you need at the venue?

Level, firm ground, access for the truck or trailer and the venue’s agreement. Power and water are confirmed with each booking.

Do you have vegan options?

Yes, they’re part of the planning from the start. Let us know how many vegetarian and vegan guests to expect, and we will keep their options separate.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Every guest is catered for, gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan included. To make it work smoothly:

  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Ask the venue whether food trucks are allowed
  • Put any allergies in writing for us
  • Add a dietary question to your RSVP

Food is served from the hatch, order by order, so everything goes out hot.

Burrito bowls suit guests who’d rather skip the tortilla.

Should I do it myself?

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the serving.

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. See our margarita bar guide.
