Should I do it myself?

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. With a caterer, you get the food and drinks without the work.

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: see how many tacos per person. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label anything containing allergens.

The process

Guests tend to gather around the truck, so we plan a spot with space for people to queue. Rain does not typically stop us serving, though guests will want somewhere covered to stand or sit. In Thame, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening events are typically served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

  1. Share the date, the venue and how many are coming.
  2. We plan a menu that covers every diet.
  3. We confirm the way in and where we will park.
  4. Food is served from the hatch or a taco-bar table.
  5. We clear our serving area when everyone is fed.

Questions from Thame

Can you cater a reception after a service at Church of St Mary?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

Is Thame close to London?

Roughly 41 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

Truck and trailer service usually suits around 50 to 400 guests. Festivals can be bigger, and smaller parties are quoted case by case. Send us your numbers and we’ll advise.

When should we book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Ask about your date even if it’s soon.

Can you cater for guests who avoid dairy?

Yes, we can. Tell us how many guests need dairy-free food, and we will plan the menu around them.

Do you cook on site?

Fillings are slow-cooked in advance, then finished and kept hot on site. The tortillas are warmed on site, and the salsas and guacamole are made fresh.

What are your prices?

We quote for each event, based on guest numbers, the menu, the venue and timings. For a price, use our quote form.

Do you give allergen information?

We plan allergen-aware menus, including for nut allergies, and give allergen information for every dish. We plan carefully and keep options separate, though we can’t promise a dish is allergen-free. Guests with severe allergies should talk to us before the event.

What we need at the venue

The route in matters as much as the spot itself. We need:

  • Power and water arrangements, confirmed with each booking
  • Some distance from houses and neighbours
  • A route in that is wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise before booking.
