Mexican catering in Newtown

Mexican catering in Newtown, from our food truck or trailer

Mobile Mexican catering means the kitchen comes to you: we park our truck or trailer on site and serve hot food from it. You do not need a kitchen at the venue. At engagement and anniversary parties and festivals, fairs and markets, we will put together a menu of loaded nachos, fresh salsas and guacamole and tacos for your guests.

In a small place like Newtown, events are typically in a garden, a field or a nearby hall. Tell us about narrow lanes, gates and long drives and we’ll plan for them, and soft ground after rain is worth mentioning. Every guest is catered for, vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free included, with allergen information for everything we serve.

Newtown: venues, access and local tips

Newtown is about 6 miles north-east of East Grinstead, in Kent. Across the TN8 area, we will come to your venue or site. Newtown is one of 922 places in Kent we cover. Our nearest city page is London, about 24 miles away.

Historic houses near Newtown include Hever Castle (1 mile north) and Chiddingstone Castle (1.6 miles north-east). If your event is at a historic house or estate, check its rules on outside caterers and vehicles early. If you are organising a summer fair for a school like Hever Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School, a taco truck can be a crowd-pleaser. With the High Weald National Landscape about 7 miles away at most, a rural setting is never far from Newtown. Country lanes there can be narrow and verges soft, so tell us about the route in.

This part of Kent takes in TN8, so your event can be anywhere in it. Local streets include Pigdown Lane and Uckfield Lane; for an event at home on any of them, tell us where the truck or trailer can park. Close by, we cover events in Markbeech (1 mile south), Hever (1 mile north), Chiddingstone Hoath (1 mile south-east), How Green (2 miles north) and Walter's Green (3 miles south-east). Further out, we also cater in Sevenoaks (8 miles north-east), Royal Tunbridge Wells (7 miles east), Tonbridge (7 miles east), Kings Hill (14 miles north-east), Paddock Wood (12 miles east) and Southborough (6 miles east).

Other landmarks nearby include Haxted Watermill Museum (3.8 miles west) and Hever Castle (1 mile north).

What Mexican catering costs

These are the factors that matter most:

  • What the venue already provides
  • How long we are needed on site
  • Parking and the route in
  • Guest numbers

Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you choose what goes in.

What we need to know

The more we know about your event, the better we can plan. Try to include:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • What power and water the site has
  • What you’d like on the menu

Most quotes start with a few simple details: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. To send them, drop us a line using the enquiry form.

Common questions in Newtown

What’s the nearest station to Newtown for guests?

The closest is Hever station, roughly 1 mile away.

Could you serve in Chiddingstone Castle Park and Gardens?

It depends on the park’s owner, who would need to agree to a catering vehicle on site. Ask them first; if they say yes, we’ll send what they need from us.

Can you keep it mild?

We can keep it mild, with hotter salsas on the side for anyone who wants more heat.

Who clears up?

We clear our own area when service is finished. For anything beyond that, such as guests’ tables, ask us.

How much does Mexican catering cost?

There is no fixed price list, as each event is different. Send your details and you’ll get a quote for your event.

What if it rains?

We serve from the truck or trailer whatever the weather, but guests will need somewhere covered to eat.

Can you serve drinks as well?

We can. The drinks bar offers margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and alcohol-free drinks. We will go through the licensing with you.

Do you do margaritas?

Yes, we do. Our drinks bar can be booked on its own or with food. We will check the licensing for alcohol with you.

Should I do it myself?

Not sure whether to do it yourself or book a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. Ask us for a quote and compare.

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

What happens on the day

Once service is over, we pack up and leave our area tidy. Set-up and pack-down times are agreed with you and the venue. Daylight in Newtown runs to about 8:50pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September. If your event carries on later, tell us what lighting the venue has.

  1. You tell us the date, the venue, rough guest numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. We suggest a sample menu and send a quote for your event.
  3. We check access, power and water with you or the venue.
  4. On the day, we set up and serve from the truck or trailer, or from a taco-bar station.
  5. After service, we clear away and leave the spot tidy.

Getting ready for the day

  • Share the running order, including any speeches
  • Have a marquee or gazebo ready in case of rain

Planning the serving area

We serve from a truck or trailer, so where we park matters. These are the things we check:

  • Access wide and high enough to drive in, with gates and soft lawns checked first
  • The venue’s or landowner’s permission for a catering vehicle
  • Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise.

Planning for every diet

Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Try these:

  • Tell us what other food is being served
  • Confirm the venue is happy to have a catering vehicle
  • Let us know if a guest is coeliac
  • Ensure the menu has a vegan option

If you’ve chosen a taco bar, the fillings, salsas and toppings go out on a serving table, and guests build their own.

Add our Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas.
