About our Mexican catering in Platt's Heath

Truck and trailer service typically suits around 50 to 400 guests. Larger festivals and smaller parties are looked at case by case, so let us know how many you expect. At office lunches and team days and retirement and leaving parties, we will put together a menu of burrito bowls, burritos and loaded nachos.

For a rural spot like Platt's Heath, fields and drives need a little planning: the gate, the ground and the route from the lane. Power and water may be limited, so we confirm the arrangements with you. We plan the timings around your day, so service starts when you want it.

Platt's Heath: venues, access and local tips

Platt's Heath is about 7 miles south-east of Maidstone, in Kent. Anywhere in ME17, we will come to your venue or site, as long as there’s access. We cover all 922 towns and villages across Kent, from the larger towns to small villages. Our nearest city page is Canterbury, about 18 miles away.

Around Platt's Heath, historic houses include Leeds Castle (3 miles north-west). Venues like these often limit where vehicles can go, so ask about access before you book one. For a christening or wedding at a church such as Church of St Nicholas, a food truck at a garden or venue nearby is an easy way to feed everyone. With the Kent Downs National Landscape about 4 miles away at most, a rural setting is never far from Platt's Heath. Country lanes there can be narrow and verges soft, so tell us about the route in.

Mexican catering in ME17 is planned around your venue and access and your guests. Whether your event is on School Lane, Headcorn Road and Green Lane or anywhere nearby, we can bring Mexican catering there, given access. Events we cater in Platt's Heath

Mexican street food suits almost any crowd: familiar, filling and easy to eat wherever guests are.

If you’re planning any of these, we can help:

  • Festivals, fairs and markets
  • Christenings and family parties
  • Engagement celebrations
  • Retirement and leaving parties

A gathering in Kiln Wood would need the park owner’s say-so for any catering vehicle, and that is worth sorting out early.

Questions to ask before booking

DIY taco night or a caterer?

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone has to serve all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

Where the truck can go in Platt's Heath

Every venue is different, so we ask about the space before we confirm. In general, we need:

  • Access wide and high enough to drive in, with gates and soft lawns checked first
  • Hardstanding or firm, level ground to park on
  • Room for a serving table for the taco bar

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.

Diets, allergies and planning

Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free included. To get it right:

  • Let us know if a guest is coeliac
  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Ask guests with severe allergies to talk to us before the event
  • Have a covered area ready in case of rain

Allergen information is on hand for every dish, so guests can check before they order.

A tray of loaded nachos works well to start or as a late snack.

Your questions about Mexican catering in Platt's Heath

Do you come out to small places like Platt's Heath?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

How far is Platt's Heath from London?

Roughly 39 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it.

Is the food made fresh?

Food is cooked to order in our food truck or trailer, or served from a build-your-own taco bar. Fillings are slow-cooked beforehand and finished on site.

Can you run a bar?

Yes, we run a Mexican drinks bar, serving margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas such as hibiscus and horchata, and soft drinks. Alcohol at an event may need a licence, such as a premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice, so we will check the licensing with you.

What do you serve?

We agree a sample menu with each client. Fillings might include chicken tinga, pork carnitas, al pastor-style pork and vegan options like black beans. See our menu for ideas.

Can you cater for children?

Yes, children are welcome. Let us know numbers and ages, and we’ll plan the menu with them in mind.

Can we have a build-your-own taco bar?

We can. We can set up a build-your-own taco bar, served from the truck or a serving table, with fillings, salsas and toppings to choose from.

Can you set up at our venue?

Tell us about the venue and the way in, and we will confirm what we need. Space for a queue and, if you choose one, a taco-bar table helps too.

How the day works

When we arrive, we position the truck or trailer and get the serving area ready. We’re ready to serve at the agreed time, planned around your event. Around midsummer it stays light in Platt's Heath until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening events are typically served in daylight. For winter events, when it’s dark by about 3:50pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

  1. Share the date, the venue and how many are coming.
  2. We plan a menu that covers every diet.
  3. We check the route in and where the truck or trailer will stand.
  4. Guests order at the hatch or build their own at the taco bar.
  5. After the last serving, we clear our area.

Before we arrive

  • Choose a level, firm spot for the truck or trailer
  • Let us know the timings for the day
  • Give us your final numbers and diets
