Diets, allergies and planning

A Mexican menu is easy to plan for mixed diets, because guests can choose what suits them. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Count children separately
  • Tell us what other food is being served
  • Add a dietary question to your RSVP
  • Ask the venue whether food trucks are allowed

Food is served from the hatch, order by order, so it’s hot when it reaches them.

Burrito bowls suit guests who’d rather skip the tortilla, and they’re easy to adapt for different diets.

How our Mexican catering works in Pyle

Mixed diets are easy to plan with Mexican street food. We plan vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free options, with corn tortillas for gluten-free guests, and we give allergen information for every dish. At birthday parties and summer garden parties, we can serve loaded nachos, fresh salsas and guacamole and burrito bowls for your guests.

Somewhere like Pyle, a field or garden is often the setting. Mention gates and soft ground when you contact us. Every guest is catered for, vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free included, with allergen information for everything we serve.

How the day works

We arrive in good time before service, then set up and prepare everything. Guests come up to order when service opens. A December event in Pyle will be in the dark from about 4:00pm, so a well-lit spot for the queue makes a big difference. In late June, by contrast, daylight lasts until about 9:20pm.

  1. Contact us with the basics: when, where and how many.
  2. We come back with menu ideas and a quote.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm timings and arrangements.
  4. At the agreed time, service starts from the truck or trailer.
  5. When you’re done, we pack away.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us what power and water the site has
  • Share the running order, including any speeches
  • Give us a contact for the day

Questions from Pyle

Do you cater in villages like Pyle?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

We’re having a ceremony at St Andrew's Church: can you cater afterwards?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

What guest numbers do you cater for?

That depends on the event. As a guide, it is around 50 to 400 guests; tell us your numbers and we will plan around them.

Are plates and napkins included?

Ask us when you enquire. Tell us what your venue provides, and we will set out plates, napkins and cutlery in your quote.

Do you come to Pyle?

We do. We serve at events in Pyle and across the Isle of Wight. Tell us your date and we will check availability.

Do you serve in the rain?

We can still serve in the rain. Have somewhere covered ready for guests.

How soon do we need to book?

As soon as you have a date. Popular dates go first, so it pays to ask early.

Can you cater for special diets?

We can. There are gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan options, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests. We give allergen information for every dish.

How it compares

A barbecue often means a host tied to the grill. With us, the cooking happens in our food truck or trailer. A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, because it needs no venue kitchen. Contact us for a quote to compare.

Space, access and the venue

If a space is not suitable, we’ll tell you, and help find another spot. What matters most:

  • Power and water, which we confirm with you for each booking
  • Space for guests to queue
  • Space for a taco-bar table if you’ve chosen one

For somewhere as remote as Pyle, early notice helps us plan the trip, the route in and power.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, with allergen information for every dish.

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

What affects the price in Pyle

Every event is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • Serving staff
  • The number of people
  • What’s on the menu

Pricing depends on the event. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Your quote sets it all out.
