Mexican catering for your event in The Chart

Fillings are slow-cooked in advance and kept hot on site, and the salsas and guacamole are freshly made. Tortillas are warmed as we serve. For big birthday celebrations and staff parties and office lunches, we can serve a build-your-own taco bar, fresh salsas and guacamole and quesadillas.

In a rural place like The Chart, access is the main thing to plan: gate widths, soft ground and the distance from the road all matter. Power and water may be limited, so we confirm the arrangements with you. We cater for vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free guests, and we give allergen information for every dish.

Common questions in The Chart

Is The Chart close to London?

It’s about 18 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

Can you cater a reception after a service at St Andrew's?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

How much will it cost?

Every event is quoted for individually, depending on numbers, menu, venue and timings. Contact us for a quote.

When should we book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Even if it’s short notice, it’s worth asking.

What do you serve?

Every menu is agreed with you. Fillings could include chicken tinga, pork carnitas, al pastor-style pork and vegan options like black beans. See our menu for ideas.

How much does Mexican catering cost in The Chart?

It depends on guest numbers, the menu, the length of service and the location. Contact us for a quote.

Can you keep it mild?

That’s your choice: we can keep it mild and put the hotter salsas on the side.

What access do you need?

Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer, and a route in it can fit through, and the venue’s agreement. We confirm power and water with you for each booking.

How the day works

We take care of everything you’ve booked, from set-up to service, so you can spend time with your guests. Evenings in The Chart stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm. For anything running past sunset, think about lights near the hatch.

  1. Get in touch with the basics: when, where and how many.
  2. Expect a suggested menu and a quote.
  3. Nearer the date, we go over the final plan.
  4. At the agreed time, service starts from the truck or trailer.
  5. We pack away when service is over.

Getting ready for the day

  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough
  • Tell us when you want service to start
  • Check the venue is happy to have a truck or trailer on site

Can I do a taco night myself?

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label anything containing allergens.

Some hosts like to do it themselves. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

What we need at the venue

Before the day, we will agree where we park and serve. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:

  • A spot for a taco-bar serving table
  • A route in that is wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance
  • A sensible distance from buildings and neighbours

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly.

Throwing a party at home? Send us a picture of the space and tell us about the drive and gates, and we’ll tell you honestly whether a truck or trailer will fit.

Events in public spaces, like parks, normally need permission. We will provide the information the landowner or council asks for from us.

Our caterer checklist

What’s on the menu

Tacos

Soft tortillas, warmed and filled, finished with salsas and toppings. Fillings are agreed with you, such as carnitas, chicken tinga or spiced mushrooms.

Burritos and burrito bowls

Burritos are filling and easy to eat on the move. Bowls suit guests who want to skip the tortilla.

Dietary needs and planning tips

With a little notice, most diets are easy. Our advice:

  • Ask the venue whether food trucks are allowed
  • Flag anyone with coeliac disease
  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Ask guests with severe allergies to talk to us before the event

Guests order at the hatch and we serve them there and then, so it is hot when it reaches them.

Loaded nachos make a good sharing starter or as a late snack.

How we price Mexican catering

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • Distance and access to the venue
  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • Serving staff
  • Your choice of food and drinks

The cost per head can fall as numbers rise, because the set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.
