Should I do it myself?

Some hosts like to do it themselves. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the serving.

Not sure whether to do it yourself or book a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. Contact us for a quote to compare.

About our Mexican catering in West End

Our truck and trailer service tends to suit around 50 to 400 guests. Festivals can be bigger, and smaller parties are quoted case by case, so tell us your numbers. Popular choices include fresh salsas and guacamole, loaded nachos and burrito bowls, and it is a good fit for markets and community events and leaving parties.

There may be a hall or club near West End if your garden is small; a truck or trailer can work at any of them, with permission and a level spot. Food and drinks can be booked together or separately, so one caterer can cover more of the day.

What we need at the venue

Many gardens, fields and venues can take a truck or trailer, but there are a few things to check:

  • A route in that is wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance
  • A sensible distance from buildings and neighbours
  • Agreement from the venue to bring a food truck or trailer on site

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.

Step by step

Here’s how the day generally runs: we arrive and set up, we open the hatch when you’re ready, and we serve your guests fresh until service ends. A December event in West End will be in the dark from about 3:55pm, so a well-lit spot for the queue makes a big difference. In late June, by contrast, daylight lasts until about 9:20pm.

  1. Share the date, the venue and how many are coming.
  2. We plan a menu that covers every diet.
  3. We check the route in and where the truck or trailer will stand.
  4. Food is served from the hatch or a taco-bar table.
  5. After the last serving, we clear our area.

Getting ready for the day

  • Name one person we can ask on the day
  • Measure any gates or arches on the way in
  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day

Catering for every guest

Mixed diets are straightforward to plan for, because guests can choose what suits them. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Have a covered area ready in case of rain
  • Collect dietary needs when guests reply
  • Plan a vegan filling as well as a vegetarian one
  • Send allergy details to us in writing

If timings change on the day, tell us and we will adjust.

A tray of loaded nachos works well to start or as a late snack.

Prices and what affects them

Contact us for a quote, and the price is based on:

  • How many staff you need
  • How long we’re needed on site
  • Your choice of food and drinks
  • Distance and access to the venue

Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you can choose what you need.

What to tell us

You do not need everything decided to ask for a quote, but these help:

  • How we drive in and where we can park
  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • A picture of where we’d park
  • What you’d like on the menu

Still deciding on the menu? That’s fine: give us the basics about your event, and we will suggest a menu. To start, drop us a line using the enquiry form.
