Mexican catering for your event in Winterbourne

The menu starts with tacos: warmed tortillas, a choice of fillings, and salsas, guacamole and toppings to finish. Burritos, burrito bowls, loaded nachos and quesadillas can sit alongside them. It works well for festivals, fairs and markets and wedding breakfasts and evening food, with burrito bowls, a build-your-own taco bar and quesadillas.

Somewhere like Winterbourne, a field or garden is often the setting. Mention gates and soft ground when you get in touch. We arrive ready to serve, and clear our own area when service is finished.

Should I do it myself?

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Our taco bar guide explains how.

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

Winterbourne questions

Can you bring a truck or trailer to venues in the North Wessex Downs National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. Tell us about narrow lanes and soft ground.

Do you come out to small places like Winterbourne?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

Can you run a bar?

Yes, we offer a Mexican drinks bar, serving margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas such as hibiscus and horchata, and soft drinks. Your venue or event may need the right licence for alcohol, so we will talk licensing through with you.

How much will it cost?

There is no fixed price list, as each event is different. Tell us your numbers and plans and we’ll send a quote for your event.

How soon do we need to book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Ask about your date even if it’s soon.

What areas do you cover?

London and South East England: Greater London, Kent and Medway, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, including Winterbourne.

Do you have gluten-free options?

We can, using corn tortillas. Corn is naturally gluten-free, though some sauces and toppings can contain gluten, so we plan gluten-free dishes carefully and give allergen information.

How does mobile Mexican catering work?

We bring our truck or trailer to your venue, cook to order and serve tacos, burritos and more from the hatch. You can also have a build-your-own taco bar.

Prices and what affects them

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:

  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • How many staff you need
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • The length of service

Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the length of service, plus any add-ons and the location. We quote for each event individually.

What to tell us

Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:

  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Whether you’d like food, drinks or both
  • A photo of the space, if it is a garden or field
  • Where the event is

We quote for each event separately, so the price fits what you actually want. For a quote, use our quote form.

For event organisers in Winterbourne

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can check the date.

If you are organising for someone else, whether you’re a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we’re happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Mexican catering or something else?

A plated meal needs a kitchen and a larger team. Our food truck or trailer brings its own kitchen, and needs a suitable spot, safe access and the venue’s agreement. If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we’ll suggest a menu that fits. Even a simple menu can feel generous.

Why book Mobile Mexican Catering in Winterbourne

  • Tacos, burritos and a drinks bar
  • Allergen information for everything we serve
  • Quick, friendly service from the hatch
  • Set-up planned with you and your venue

Read our prices page or our guide to catering costs.

Planning for every diet

With a little notice, most diets are easy. We suggest:

  • Have a covered area ready in case of rain
  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Confirm allergies by email before the event
  • Put guests with severe allergies in touch with us early

For a taco bar, we lay the fillings, salsas and toppings out on a table, and guests build their own while we keep it topped up.

Burrito bowls suit guests who’d rather skip the tortilla.

Step by step

We need a level, firm spot we can drive the truck or trailer onto, with power and water arrangements agreed beforehand. A picture of the space helps. Around midsummer it stays light in Winterbourne until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so summer evening events are usually served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 4:00pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

  1. Start by telling us about your event.
  2. You get a sample menu and a quote.
  3. We agree access, the serving spot, power and water.
  4. On the day we park up, set up and serve hot food to order.
  5. We pack down after service and leave the area tidy.

Preparing for the day

  • Name one person we can ask on the day
  • Have a marquee or gazebo ready in case of rain
  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to park
