Choosing a Mexican caterer

How the day works

The truck or trailer needs a level, firm spot with access to drive in, with power and water arrangements agreed beforehand. A picture of the space helps. At midsummer, it is light in Martin until about 9:25pm, ideal for drinks outdoors. By late September, sunset is about 7:10pm, and in December it’s dark by about 4:05pm, so plan lighting around the bar.

  1. Send us the date, venue and numbers.
  2. We talk licensing through with you.
  3. You choose the drinks with us.
  4. Our bar staff serve your guests at the agreed times.
  5. We clear the bar at the end.

Preparing for the day

  • Measure any gates or arches on the way in
  • Tell us what power and water the site has
  • Arrange somewhere covered for guests to eat

DIY taco night versus a caterer

Some hosts like to do it themselves. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Read our guide to taco bars.

Mexican bar hire or something else?

DIY drinks tables are easy but need constant topping up. Bar staff keep drinks flowing and cold. Catering from a truck or trailer can be a practical alternative to a sit-down meal, as there is no kitchen to hire. Contact us for a quote to compare.

What you get with us

  • Everything served fresh from the hatch
  • A menu agreed with you
  • Tacos, burritos and a drinks bar
  • Fast service, even with a queue

Martin questions

Do you come out to small places like Martin?

Yes, small places are no problem, given access. Tell us about lanes, gates, ground and parking.

We’re having a ceremony at Church of All Saints: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

Can you plan for allergies?

Yes, and it helps to hear about allergies when you book. UK law requires caterers to provide information on 14 allergens, and we give it for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). Anyone with a severe allergy should speak to us before the event.

Do you cook on site?

Food is cooked to order in our food truck or trailer, or served from a build-your-own taco bar. Slow-cooked fillings are prepared in advance and kept hot on site.

Where do you cater?

London and the South East: Greater London, Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire, including Martin.

How much is the bar?

We quote for each event, based on numbers, drinks and hours. Contact us for a quote.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

That depends on the menu and the service time, but around 50 to 400 guests is the usual range. For anything outside that, ask us.

Can guests build their own tacos?

Yes, a taco bar is one of our options. Tell us about your space and numbers and we’ll recommend how to serve.

Before you choose a spot

If a space isn’t suitable, we will tell you, and suggest an alternative. The main points are:

  • The right licence for alcohol: the venue’s licence or a Temporary Event Notice
  • Permission from the venue or landowner
  • Vehicle access near the bar

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before booking.
