Should I do it myself?

Weighing up a DIY taco night against a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. Ask us for a quote and compare.

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: see how many tacos per person. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

What affects the price in Rough Common

Pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

  • Food, drinks or both
  • Travel, parking and access
  • The menu you choose
  • Timings and hours

The price depends on guest numbers, the menu and how long you’d like us to serve, along with extras and where your event is. Every event gets its own quote.

Getting an accurate quote

When you contact us, it helps to tell us:

  • Whether you’d like food, drinks or both
  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • Your date and when you want service to start

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote: venue, timings, menu ideas and access. To send your details, send us your details through our quote form.

The process

Serving is quick: we serve from the hatch or a serving station, so a crowd is looked after quickly. Afterwards we clear our area. At midsummer, it is light in Rough Common until about 9:15pm, so evening drinks can be served in daylight. By late September, sunset is about 7:00pm, and in December it’s dark by about 3:50pm, so plan lighting around the bar.

  1. Send us your date, venue, numbers and drinks ideas.
  2. We go through the licensing with you: the venue’s licence or a Temporary Event Notice.
  3. You get a suggested drinks menu and a quote.
  4. On the day, our bar staff serve drinks responsibly at the agreed times.
  5. When the bar closes, we pack down and clear our area.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us what power and water the site has
  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough
  • Give us a contact for the day

A Mexican drinks bar in Rough Common: local tips

Rough Common is about 2 miles north-west of Canterbury, in Kent. For Mexican bar hire in Rough Common, we can park up at venues, fields, drives and courtyards. We cover all 922 towns and villages across Kent, from the larger towns to small villages, wherever the truck or trailer can get in.

A drinks bar at a garden or hall near a church like Church of St. Gabriel gives guests something to enjoy while photos are taken. Parks such as Whitehall Meadows have their own rules on vehicles and alcohol, so check before planning a drinks bar there. The coast is within about 5 miles of Rough Common. Wind, sand and the rules on alcohol in public places all need planning for a seaside bar.

This part of Kent takes in CT2, so your event can be anywhere in it. Whether your event is on Ross Gardens, Firtree Close and Rough Common Road or a nearby road, we can bring Mexican bar hire there, given access. If your venue is just outside Rough Common, we also cover Harbledown (1 mile south-east), Upper Harbledown (1 mile south-west), Hales Place (1 mile east), Wincheap (2 miles south-east) and Thanington (2 miles south). Within a short drive, we also cover Ashford (13 miles south-west), Dover (15 miles south-east), Sittingbourne (14 miles west), Folkestone (15 miles south), Whitstable (4 miles north) and Faversham (7 miles west).

A little further out are Eastbridge Hospital of St Thomas the Martyr (1.6 miles south-east) and Canterbury Castle (1.6 miles south-east). Not far away are Blean Woods RSPB Reserve.

  • Nearby schools include St Edmund's School (0.5 miles east) and The Archbishop's School (1.1 miles east)

Planning the bar

To get the most from the bar, it helps to:

  • Tell us how many guests are under 18
  • Plan alcohol-free drinks for drivers
  • Find out if you need a Temporary Event Notice

When the bar closes, we pack down and clear our area.

Questions from Rough Common

Is it possible to have you in Whitehall Meadows?

It depends on the park’s owner, who would need to agree to a catering vehicle on site. Ask them first; if they say yes, we’ll send what they need from us.

Could you serve our guests after a service at Church of St. Gabriel?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

How much space do you need?

Access and level ground matter most: a firm spot for the truck or trailer, room for a queue and, for a taco bar, space for a serving table. If in doubt, send us a picture of the space and the way in.

Do you cook on site?

We slow-cook fillings ahead, then finish them and keep them hot at your event. Tortillas are warmed on site, and salsas and guacamole are made fresh.

Who handles the licensing?

Alcohol at an event needs the venue’s premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice. We check the licensing with you before the day. GOV.UK explains Temporary Event Notices.

How much is the bar?

We quote for each event, depending on guests, drinks and timings. For a price, fill in our quote form.

Can we have a build-your-own taco bar?

We can. A build-your-own taco bar can be served from the truck or a serving station, with fillings, salsas and toppings to choose from.

Do you have vegan options?

Yes, and we plan them in from the start. Let us know how many vegetarian and vegan guests to expect.
