Mexican catering in Rough Common

Your questions about Mexican catering in Rough Common

Which station should guests use for Rough Common?

Guests can use Canterbury West station, about 1.3 miles south-east of Rough Common.

Do you cater in villages like Rough Common?

Yes, we cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates, ground and parking.

Can you cater for special diets?

We can. We plan vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free options, with corn tortillas for gluten-free guests. Allergen information is available for every dish.

How soon do we need to book?

The sooner the better. Popular dates go first, so it pays to ask early.

Do you do parties at home?

That depends on access. A drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission, if the garden itself is out of reach. Tell us about the space and we will advise.

What food do you serve?

Tacos and taco bars, plus burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas. See our sample menu.

Can you cater for guests who avoid dairy?

We can. We offer dairy-free options.

What if the weather’s bad?

The truck or trailer can serve in the rain, but guests need somewhere covered to eat and drink, like a marquee or gazebo.

How our Mexican catering works in Rough Common

Tacos are the heart of the menu: warmed tortillas, a choice of fillings, and salsas, guacamole and toppings to finish. We can add burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas. On the menu are a build-your-own taco bar, quesadillas and burrito bowls, and it is a good fit for leaving dos and retirement parties and milestone birthdays.

In a hamlet or village like Rough Common, your own garden or a neighbour’s field can make a good venue. Gates, verges and soft ground are worth mentioning when you enquire. Everything is prepared fresh for your event and served from our food truck or trailer.

About the menu

Quesadillas

Salsas and guacamole

What affects the price in Rough Common

Your quote will be clear. What affects it most:

  • Distance and access to the venue
  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food
  • How many staff you need
  • Guest numbers

Larger events can cost less per head, since the set-up is much the same either way. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

What to tell us

The more we know about your event, the better we can plan. Try to include:

  • The address or venue name
  • A picture of where we’d park
  • The date and time of the event
  • Any dietary needs and allergies

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote: the venue, the timings, food or drinks or both, and the access. To send your details, drop us a line using the enquiry form.

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we will keep everyone informed on the day.

Catering for every guest

A Mexican menu is easy to plan for mixed diets, because guests can choose what suits them. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Send allergy details to us in writing
  • Have a covered area ready in case of rain
  • Check that your venue allows outside caterers and vehicles
  • Guests with serious allergies should speak to us in advance

Allergen information is on hand for every dish, and guests are welcome to ask before ordering.

A tray of loaded nachos works well to start.

What we need at the venue

We will be honest if a space will not work, and help find another spot. What matters most:

  • Details of power and water on site, agreed when you book
  • A spot for a taco-bar serving table
  • Room for a queue in front of the serving hatch

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly before booking.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Read our guide to taco bars.

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, with allergen information for every dish.

What happens on the day

When service finishes, we pack down and clear our own area. We agree set-up and pack-down times with you and your venue. In Rough Common, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:00pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:50pm, so winter events need lighting around the truck and the queue.

  1. Share the date, the venue and how many are coming.
  2. We plan a menu that covers every diet.
  3. We confirm the way in and where we’ll park.
  4. Food is served from the hatch or a taco-bar table.
  5. After the last serving, we clear our area.

How to prepare

  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to park
  • Ask the venue about power and water
  • Check the venue is happy to have a truck or trailer on site
