About our Mexican street food in Caring

Our food is easy to eat standing up or on the grass. At music and food festivals and community events and open days, we’ll put together a menu of burrito bowls, loaded nachos and quesadillas for your guests.

Near Caring, events may be far from shops and cafés, so a taco truck is a welcome sight. We serve from the hatch of our truck or trailer, or from a serving station, and we plan the service around your numbers.

If you’re booking for a business, tell us what your finance team needs, and we’ll explain how it works. We are happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.

If you’re organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we’re happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Caring is about 3 miles east of Maidstone, in Kent. We serve at events in gardens, halls and venues around Caring and the surrounding area. Caring is one of 922 towns and villages in Kent where we can bring Mexican street food. You can also see our page for Canterbury, about 21 miles away.

A school such as Leeds and Broomfield Church of England Primary School running a summer fair could book a taco truck. Organisers near the Kent Downs National Landscape, within about 3 miles of Caring, may face extra conditions on traffic, ground protection and waste. We work to whatever the site sets.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: see how many tacos per person. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label anything containing allergens.

Before you choose a spot

No two venues are the same, so we ask about the space when you contact us. In general, we need:

  • A level pitch on firm ground
  • Your trader pack and site rules
  • Access for the truck or trailer at set-up

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise before you book.

What Mexican street food costs

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food
  • The menu you choose
  • Parking and the route in
  • Staff for serving and the bar

If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we will suggest a menu that fits. A simple menu can still feel generous.

Details that help

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what to include:

  • Your date and when you want service to start
  • A picture of the space, if it is a garden or field
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Where the event is

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many guests, along with any dietary needs, and we will reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. To get started, fill in our quote form.

Caring: your questions answered

Do you come to events in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and catering, so check with yours. We’ll follow the site rules.

Could you bring a taco truck to a school fair in Caring?

We can, as long as the school agrees and the truck or trailer can reach the pitch. Tell us the date, the site and roughly how many visitors you expect.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We pack down and tidy our own area after service. For anything beyond that, such as guests’ tables, ask us.

Can you feed our volunteers?

Yes, timed to your schedule. Tell us numbers and timings.

Can you bring margaritas?

It depends on the event’s licence. Tell us whether the event has a premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice, and we will go from there.

Do you provide plates and napkins?

Please ask us. Tell us what your venue provides, and we’ll set out plates, napkins and cutlery in your quote.

Do you need power?

Tell us what’s available at the pitch and we’ll confirm what we need. Power and water are agreed with each booking.

Do you come to Caring?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, including Caring and the rest of Kent. To check your date, drop us a line using the enquiry form.

Step by step

We get there well before you want to serve, then set up and prepare everything. When service opens, guests come up to the hatch or serving table. Late-September events in Caring see sunset at about 7:00pm, so an evening programme will run partly after dusk. Organisers should plan that into the site layout.

  1. We check your dates.
  2. We agree what we’ll serve and where.
  3. We send the paperwork your event asks for.
  4. We are ready to serve as visitors arrive.
  5. We trade, then pack down.

Preparing for the day

  • Tell us what power and water the site has
  • Get the venue’s permission for us to park and serve
  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
