Space, access and the venue

Many gardens, fields and venues can take a truck or trailer, but a few things matter:

  • Details of power, water and waste arrangements
  • The event’s site rules and timings
  • Vehicle access to the pitch for set-up and break-down

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

What happens on the day

Here’s how the day usually runs: we park up and get ready, we open the hatch when you’re ready, and we serve your guests fresh until service ends. By late September, it is dark in Pamber End at around 7:10pm, so an evening programme will run partly after dusk. Tell us how the site will be lit when you send the pitch details.

  1. Tell us about the event, the crowd and the pitch.
  2. We reply with our stall menu and what we need on site.
  3. Power, water and access are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day, we are ready before the busiest hours.
  5. When trading ends, the pitch is cleared and left clean.

Preparing for the day

  • Share the running order, including any speeches
  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough
  • Have a marquee or gazebo ready in case of rain

Questions to ask before booking

Can I do a taco night myself?

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Read our guide to taco bars.

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the serving.

Prices and what affects them

Each event is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Staff for serving and the bar
  • Guest numbers
  • Your choice of food and drinks
  • Distance and access to the venue

Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so share your ideas with us. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

What to tell us
