Planning an event in Purley?

Prices and what affects them

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • Parking and the route in
  • The number of people
  • What’s on the menu
  • Whether you need disposables

There is no one-size-fits-all price for Mexican street food. A simple party menu and a full wedding day are very different jobs. Contact us for a quote.

What we need to know

You do not need everything decided to ask for a quote, but it helps to know:

  • What power and water the site has
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • How we drive in and where we can park
  • Where the event is

Each quote is tailored to your event. Give us your date and numbers, and we will check availability at the same time.

About our Mexican street food in Purley

A taco stall covers many diets at once: we serve vegan and vegetarian fillings and corn tortillas for gluten-free visitors. That makes your food line-up easier. It works well for county and country shows and school fairs and fundraisers, with burritos, quesadillas and tacos.

In Purley, community events include street parties, school fairs and markets. Public spaces and road closures usually need council permission, and we’ll provide what the organiser asks for from us. You will know what’s included before you book: menu, timings and any add-ons.

Where the truck can go in Purley

The route in matters as much as the spot itself. We need:

  • A level pitch on firm ground
  • Vehicle access before and after the event
  • The event’s site rules and timings

As a London location, Purley is inside the ULEZ, and parking and loading take planning: tell us about parking bays, permits, a driveway or whether a parking suspension is needed.

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Street food for events around Purley

Purley is about 2 miles south-west of Croydon, in Greater London. We bring Mexican street food to gardens, halls and venues around Purley and nearby villages. Purley is one of 764 towns and villages in Greater London where we can bring Mexican street food. We cater right across the region, from Purley to London (about 11 miles away).

Hot food from a truck or trailer could give a school fair, for a school such as Christ Church CofE Primary School (Purley), a busy corner. Running a fête for a church like St Swithun's? A Mexican street-food truck draws people in.

For Mexican street food in CR8, CR2 and CR5, we plan around your venue and the route in and timings. Local streets include High Street, Church Road and Brighton Road; for an event at home on any of them, tell us where the truck or trailer can park. You’ll find Purley on the A2022, so it is easy for us to reach with the truck or trailer. What happens on the day

The truck or trailer needs a level, firm spot with access to drive in, and we agree power and water arrangements before the day. A photo of the space helps. Christmas markets in Purley trade in the dark from about 3:55pm, so site lighting matters for traders and visitors alike. At midsummer, daylight lasts until roughly 9:20pm.

  1. Organisers send us the event details, dates and pitch information.
  2. We send our menu, pitch requirements and the documents you ask traders for.
  3. We set up the truck or trailer on the pitch at the agreed time.
  4. We serve from the hatch through the trading times you set.
  5. At the close, we clear our pitch.

Planning help

Purley: your questions answered

What’s the nearest station to Purley for guests?

Guests can use Purley station, which is right in Purley.

Could you serve in Dollypers Hill?

Only with permission from whoever runs the park, often the council. Ask them first, and we’ll help with the information they need from us.

What food and drinks do you offer?

Mexican street food and drinks: tacos, taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas, plus salsas, guacamole and toppings. A drinks bar is available too.

Can you do gluten-free food?

Yes, we offer gluten-free options, using corn tortillas. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can talk through how their food is prepared. See are corn tortillas gluten-free?

Do you need power?

Tell us what’s available at the pitch and we will confirm what we need. We confirm power and water with each booking.

Can you do dairy-free food?

Yes, on request. Let us know your dairy-free numbers, and we’ll plan the menu around them.

What happens if it rains?

Rain does not usually stop service from the truck or trailer. Plan cover for guests, such as a marquee or gazebo, and tell us if heavy rain could make the ground soft.

Can you serve alcohol at our event?

We can add our drinks bar if the event is licensed for it. Licensing is checked with you first.

Diets, allergies and planning

We cater for vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free guests. To get it right:

  • Ensure the line-up includes vegan and gluten-free options
  • Provide seating near the food
  • Check traders’ packaging and waste plans
  • Send traders one clear trader pack

We serve from the hatch throughout trading hours.

Alcohol-free aguas frescas.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Read our guide to taco bars.

Not sure whether to do it yourself or book a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. Contact us for a quote to compare.

Mexican street food or something else?

Cooked-from-raw street food can slow queues. With fillings prepared ahead, service is fast. A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, as there’s no kitchen to hire. Contact us for a quote to compare.
