Our Mexican catering in CR8

Truck and trailer service usually suits around 50 to 400 guests. Larger festivals and smaller parties are looked at case by case, so let us know how many you expect. It suits wedding breakfasts and evening food and anniversaries and engagements, with fresh salsas and guacamole, burrito bowls and a build-your-own taco bar.

When service finishes, we pack up and leave our area tidy. Set-up and pack-down times are agreed with you and the venue.

  1. Begin with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. Expect a suggested menu and a quote.
  3. Nearer the date, we go over the final plan.
  4. At the agreed time, service starts from the truck or trailer.
  5. When you are done, we pack away.

What it costs in CR8

There’s no one-size-fits-all price for Mexican catering. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Contact us for a quote.

Around Purley

Local spots for an event include homes and venues near Laleham Lea School, The Jolly Farmers pub and Thomas More Catholic School. You will also find Christ Church CofE Primary School (Purley) (0.5 miles north-east), Dollypers Hill (1.8 miles south) and St Swithun's (within half a mile south-west). There is a railway station in Purley itself: Purley station, handy for guests travelling by train. A little further out are St George's Walk (2.7 miles north) and County Borough of Croydon (2.6 miles north). Green spaces nearby include Duppas Hill and Foxley Wood.

Taco catering in CR8: local guide

From Croydon, Coulsdon and Purley to 2 villages and hamlets, events across CR8 range from town-centre venues to gardens and fields, and a food truck or trailer can work in all of them, given access. Town events mean planning parking; village events mean planning access and ground.

Purley: Before you pencil in Dollypers Hill, find out who manages it: driving a truck onto parkland and selling food there both need their agreement. Guests arriving by train will find that Purley has its own station, Purley station. Winter evenings in Purley close in by about 3:55pm, so a well-lit spot for the queue makes a big difference. At midsummer, the light holds until around 9:20pm.

Space, access and the venue

No two venues are the same, so we’ll ask about yours when you get in touch. Generally, we look for:

  • Details of power and water on site, agreed when you book
  • Some distance from houses and neighbours
  • Hardstanding or firm, level ground to park on

Should I do it myself?

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the serving.

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles allergen information for you.

Catering for every guest

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. Our advice:

  • Include at least one vegan filling
  • Check that your venue allows outside caterers and vehicles
  • Add a dietary question to your RSVP
  • Tell us how many children are coming

When service ends, we pack down and clear our area.

Quesadillas are a good choice for children and cautious eaters.

For planners, venues and organisers

Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we will explain how it works. We can work with your facilities team on access and timings.

Hosting a party at home? Send us a photo of the space and tell us about the drive and gates, and we will tell you honestly whether a truck or trailer will fit.

Popular choices

Build-your-own taco bar

A taco bar is relaxed and sociable, and guests with different diets can choose what suits them.

Burritos and burrito bowls

A big flour tortilla wrapped round rice, beans, a filling and toppings, or served as a bowl instead.

CR8 questions

What space do you need?

Tell us about the venue and the way in, and we will check it works. Space for a queue and, if you choose one, a taco-bar table helps too.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

Our truck and trailer service typically suits events of around 50 to 400 guests. Smaller parties are quoted case by case, and festivals can be larger. Send us your numbers and we will advise.

Do you cater for vegetarians, vegans and gluten-free guests?

We plan carefully for diets and keep options separate, though we cannot guarantee a kitchen with no trace of any allergen. Guests with severe allergies should talk to us before the event.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes, they’re part of the planning from the start. Let us know how many vegetarian and vegan guests to expect, and we will keep their options separate.

What do you need at the venue?

A level, firm spot for the truck or trailer, with access wide and high enough to drive in, plus the venue’s permission. We confirm power and water with you for each booking.

Can you serve in the rain?

We can serve from the hatch in the rain. It’s worth planning a covered area for guests, and tell us if heavy rain could make the ground soft.

Do you need power and water?

Let us know what’s available on site, such as a supply from the venue near where we’ll park, and we’ll confirm what we need with your quote.

  • Served from our truck or trailer at your venue, garden or event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, with allergen information
  • Tacos and taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas
  • Mexican drinks bar: margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas
