Mexican street food in Roedean

Mexican street food in Roedean, served fresh

We slow-cook fillings ahead and finish them on site, which keeps the queue moving at busy times. We serve burritos, burrito bowls and vegan tacos, and it is a good fit for village fairs and sports club events.

Near Roedean, events may be far from shops and cafés, so a taco truck is a welcome sight. Access, space and power are agreed with you beforehand, so set-up goes smoothly.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Mixed diets are straightforward to plan for, because options can be kept separate. A few tips:

  • Send traders one clear trader pack
  • Ask about peak-time capacity
  • Provide seating near the food
  • Plan for vegan and gluten-free visitors

If crew or volunteer meals are booked, they’re served at the agreed times.

Loaded nachos for sharing.

Is Mexican street food right for your event?

Some traders struggle with vegan and gluten-free visitors. We can serve vegan fillings and corn tortillas. Pricing depends on the event. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Contact us for a quote.

Why book with us

  • Allergen information for every dish
  • Fast service, even with a queue
  • Menus chosen with you
  • Set-up planned with you and your venue

Can I do a taco night myself?

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles allergen information for you.

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.

What happens on the day

We get there well before you want to serve, then set up and prepare everything. Guests come up to order when service opens. Late-September events in Roedean see sunset at about 7:05pm, so later trading needs some lighting. Tell us how the site will be lit when you send the pitch details.

  1. Organisers send us the event details, dates and pitch information.
  2. We confirm our menu, our pitch needs and the paperwork your event asks for.
  3. We set up the truck or trailer on the pitch at the agreed time.
  4. Tacos, burritos and more are served to order while the event is open.
  5. When trading ends, we pack down and leave the pitch clean.

Preparing for the day

What Mexican street food costs

Your quote will be clear. The main things that affect it are:

  • The number of people
  • Serving staff
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • The length of service

The cost per head can fall as numbers rise, because the set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

What to tell us

These details help us quote quickly:

  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • Your date and when you want service to start
  • A picture of where we’d park

Every event is quoted individually, so the price fits what you actually want. To ask for one, fill in our quote form.

Your questions about Mexican street food in Roedean

Which station should guests use for Roedean?

Guests can use Brighton station, about 2.2 miles north-west of Roedean.

Do you cater in the South Downs National Park?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

Can you cater for crew and volunteers?

We can. Crew, volunteer and hospitality catering is available, with or without a public stall.

How much is a food truck for an event?

Every event is quoted individually, so the price fits what you want. Give us your date, numbers and menu ideas and we’ll reply with a quote.

Do you cook on site?

We slow-cook fillings ahead, then finish them and keep them hot at your event. Tortillas are warmed on site, and salsas and guacamole are made fresh.

Do you do parties at home?

That depends on access. If the truck or trailer cannot reach the garden, a drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission. Tell us about the space and we’ll advise.

What do you need at the venue?

The main things are access and a level spot: a firm spot for the truck or trailer, room for a queue and, for a taco bar, space for a serving table. If in doubt, send us a photo of the space and the way in.

Can we book you as a trader?

Tell us about the event, dates and pitch, and we’ll let you know if we are available.

Running an event in Roedean

Roedean is about 2 miles east of Carlton Hill, in Brighton and Hove. Wherever your event is in the BN2 area, we can bring the truck or trailer to you, as long as there’s access. Roedean is one of 30 towns and villages in Brighton and Hove where we can bring Mexican street food.

PTA volunteers planning an event for a school like St Mark's CofE Primary School might like a trader who brings everything and serves quickly. Events in parks such as Whitehawk Hill need permission from the council or landowner, and we’ll send any documents they ask for from us. Within about 7 miles is the South Downs National Park, where events may have extra rules on vehicles and waste; we’ll follow the site’s requirements. Within about 2 miles of the sea, coastal events bring wind and sand into the plan. A firm, sheltered pitch suits a truck or trailer best.

We serve at events all over BN2 and the streets around it. Your event could be at a home on Peel Road, Cliff Road and Henley Road. Nearby, we also cater events in Ovingdean (1 mile east), Rottingdean (1 mile east), Saltdean (3 miles east), East Saltdean (3 miles east) and Falmer (3 miles north).
