Taco catering in BN6: local guide

Across BN6, we cater in 3 towns and 14 villages and hamlets, so the setting can be anything from Lewes, Hurstpierpoint and Hassocks to a quiet hamlet: a level, firm spot, a way in and agreed timings. Parts of BN6 are within a few miles of the South Downs National Park, where some venues have extra rules about vehicles and catering.

Hurstpierpoint: For guests coming by train, Hassocks station is about 1.5 miles away. When the service is at a church such as Hurstpierpoint Baptist Church, the food typically happens elsewhere, at a field, hall or garden with room for the truck. In Hurstpierpoint, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

Diets, allergies and planning

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. Our advice:

  • Tell us what other food is being served
  • Ask guests about diets and allergies with your invitations
  • Ask the venue whether food trucks are allowed
  • Let us know if a guest is coeliac

We work around your timings, and adapt if they move.

Loaded nachos make a good sharing starter or as a late snack.

How we price Mexican catering

We will give you a clear quote. What affects it most:

  • Travel, parking and access
  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • How long we are needed on site
  • Food, drinks or both

Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: service time, staff, plates and napkins, travel and VAT. Our quote sets out what’s included.

Getting an accurate quote

Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:

  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Your menu ideas
  • The date and time of the event
  • Gate widths, slopes and the ground

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many guests, along with any dietary needs, and you will get menu ideas and a price. To get started, use our quote form.

Planning the serving area

If a space isn’t suitable, we’ll tell you, and help find another spot. The main points are:

  • Some distance from houses and neighbours
  • Permission from the venue or landowner
  • Access wide and high enough to drive in, with gates and soft lawns checked first

Why street food works

Food is cooked to order and served hot, instead of waiting on a buffet.

A truck or trailer works for big and small events alike. Typical bookings include:

  • Company summer parties
  • Leaving parties
  • Weddings and evening receptions
  • Family celebrations

BN6: your questions answered

Do you cater for coeliacs?

Yes, with corn tortillas. Corn is naturally gluten-free, though some sauces and toppings can contain gluten, so we check every dish and give allergen information.

Is the food suitable for children?

Yes, children are welcome. Tell us how many and roughly how old, and we will suggest mild options.

Is the food very hot?

The food can be kept mild, and hotter salsas go on the side for guests who like heat.

What access do you need?

The main things are access and a level spot: a firm spot for the truck or trailer, room for a queue and, for a taco bar, space for a serving table. If in doubt, send us a photo of the space and the way in.

What do you need at the venue?

We need level, firm ground or hardstanding, access wide and high enough to drive in, and the venue’s permission. Power and water are confirmed with each booking.

Can you cater for special diets?

Diets are planned in advance, with options kept separate, but we can’t promise a kitchen without traces of any allergen. Guests with severe allergies should talk to us before the event.

What’s on the menu?

Tacos and taco bars, plus burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas. See our sample menu.
