About Mexican catering in CT16

We slow-cook the fillings ahead and finish them on site, and the salsas and guacamole are freshly made. Tortillas are warmed as we serve. It works well for birthday parties and company summer parties, serving burrito bowls, tacos and quesadillas.

The truck or trailer needs a level, firm spot with access to drive in, with power and water arrangements agreed beforehand. Send us a picture of the space if you’re unsure.

  1. First, send us your date, venue, numbers and any diets we should know about.
  2. We put together a menu around your guests and quote for it.
  3. Together we confirm where the truck or trailer will park, plus power and water.
  4. On the day, we set up and serve from the truck or trailer, or from a taco-bar station.
  5. Once everyone has eaten, we tidy our serving area and head off.

Taco catering in CT16: local guide

Across CT16, we cater in 3 towns and 2 villages and hamlets, so the setting can be anything from Dover, Tower Hamlets and Whitfield to a quiet hamlet: access, level ground and a clear plan. Around 8 places in CT16 are close to the coast, so we often plan around the wind at coastal events, and seafront spots need permission and firm ground for the truck or trailer.

Whitfield: Guests leaving a church like Church of St Peter after a christening could walk over to a nearby garden where the tacos are ready. If people are travelling in by rail, Kearsney station is about 1.2 miles away. A December event in Whitfield will be in the dark from about 3:50pm, so choose a spot where guests can see what they’re ordering. In late June, by contrast, daylight lasts until about 9:15pm.

Is Mexican catering right for you?

A plated meal needs a kitchen and a larger team. A food truck or trailer is its own kitchen, and needs a suitable spot, safe access and the venue’s agreement.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether plates, napkins and cutlery are included
  • The venue requirements
  • Any travel, parking or access charges
  • How late numbers can change

Space, access and the venue

Everything is served from our truck or trailer, so where we park matters. These are the things we check:

  • Power and water, which we confirm with you for each booking
  • Permission from the venue or landowner
  • A flat, firm spot where the truck or trailer can stand

Catering for every guest

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Here’s how:

  • Count children separately
  • Mention any other caterers or courses
  • Confirm allergies by email before the event
  • Let us know if a guest is coeliac

We have allergen information for every dish at the hatch.

Margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas can be added from our drinks bar, with licensing checked with you.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: see how many tacos per person. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Read our guide to taco bars.

CT16 questions

How much does Mexican catering cost?

There’s no fixed price list, as each event is different. Send your details and you will get a quote for your event.

Do you have dairy-free options?

Yes. Dairy-free options are part of our menus, and we’ll tell you which dishes contain milk.

How much space do you need?

Access and level ground matter most: a level spot to park, space for guests to queue and a little room for a serving table. Send us a picture and tell us about gates, slopes and soft ground.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

Truck and trailer service generally suits around 50 to 400 guests. Smaller parties are quoted case by case, and festivals can be larger. Send us your numbers and we’ll advise.

Do you serve in the rain?

Rain doesn’t stop service from the hatch. Have somewhere covered ready for guests.

Is the food made fresh?

Food is cooked to order in our truck or trailer, or served from a build-your-own taco bar. Fillings are slow-cooked beforehand and finished on site.

Can you cater for special diets?

We can. There are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests. Allergen information is available for every dish.
