About Mexican catering in HP16

We plan each menu with the client, with fillings such as slow-cooked pork carnitas, chicken tinga or beef birria, alongside vegan choices such as black beans or spiced mushrooms. It suits christenings and family parties and retirement and leaving parties, with fresh salsas and guacamole, quesadillas and burritos.

The truck or trailer needs a level, firm spot with access to drive in, with power and water arrangements agreed beforehand. Send us a photo of the space if you’re unsure.

  1. Begin with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. Expect a suggested menu and a quote.
  3. Nearer the date, we go over the final plan.
  4. At the agreed time, service starts from the truck or trailer.
  5. When you’re done, we pack away.

Catering events across HP16

Across HP16, we cater in 3 towns and 15 villages and hamlets, so the setting can be anything from Prestwood, Great Missenden and Little Kingshill to a quiet hamlet: access, level ground and a clear plan. Prestwood: For a fête or sports day at a school such as Prestwood Junior School, hot food from a truck or trailer saves the volunteers from cooking. Guests arriving by train will find that Great Missenden station is about 1.2 miles away. In Prestwood, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening events are typically served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

Diets, allergies and planning

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Try these:

  • Add a dietary question to your RSVP
  • Confirm allergies by email before the event
  • Tell us about coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Plan somewhere covered for guests to eat if it rains

If timings change on the day, tell us and we’ll adjust.

Ask about extra salsas and toppings for a bigger spread.

What we need at the venue

If a space is not suitable, we’ll tell you, and help find another spot. What matters most:

  • A clear area in front of the hatch for a queue
  • Power and water arrangements, confirmed with each booking
  • A spot for a taco-bar serving table

The menu, item by item

Burritos and burrito bowls

Rice, beans, a filling and toppings rolled in a large tortilla, or the same served in a bowl.

Tacos

Warm tortillas with a choice of fillings, finished with salsas and toppings. Fillings are agreed with you, such as carnitas, chicken tinga or spiced mushrooms.

Can I do a taco night myself?

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Read our guide to taco bars.

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: see how many tacos per person. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

Common questions in HP16

How long do you serve for?

We get there well before service to set up. The length of service is agreed when you book, along with pack-down.

How does your Mexican catering work?

Our truck or trailer is a mobile kitchen. We set up at your venue, serve hot food to order and pack down afterwards.

What’s on the menu?

We agree a sample menu with each client. Fillings could include slow-cooked pork carnitas, chicken tinga, beef birria and vegan options such as spiced mushrooms or black beans. See our menu for ideas.

Do you serve in the rain?

We serve from the truck or trailer whatever the weather, but guests will need somewhere covered to eat.

Can you keep it mild?

The food can be kept mild, with hotter salsas on the side for anyone who wants more heat.

Can you plan for allergies?

We plan allergen-aware menus, including for nut allergies, and give allergen information for every dish. We keep options separate, but we cannot promise anything is completely allergen-free. If a guest has a severe allergy, please talk to us before the event.

Do you do a drinks bar?

Our drinks bar can be added to any booking, with bar staff serving margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas. Alcohol needs the right licence, so we’ll check that with you.

  • Served from our truck or trailer at your venue, garden or event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, with allergen information
  • Tacos and taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas
  • Mexican drinks bar: margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas
